The Heart of the Matter
When we each think back to special times in our lives, our memories are often inextricably linked with a
place. We may wonder, if we go back today, will it look and feel the same? Will our future generations be
able to experience it like we did? Is it a “forever” place?
For the past twenty-two years GTRLC has been supported by donors who value our mission. We listen when
you tell us about the places you care deeply about. We take action and make choices on how we can best
use the resources we have been given to protect them. We have a sense of achievement and are grateful
knowing that together we made this happen.
One thing we know is that not all things stay the same. Not everything should, but the singular lands we
love are an exception. And as we look forward, we understand the ability to watch over these places won’t
happen on its own—it takes planning and action.
Thanks to the progressive thinking of supporters who have made planned gifts or endowment gifts, GTRLC
has invested over $10 million in a variety of long-term funds (see below). Not bad for an organization our
age. However, in order to make good on our perpetual responsibility to steward lands we have protected, our
staff and board of directors are now prioritizing the growth and investments in our Stewardship Endowment
Fund. We are measuring our responsibilities. We are setting timelines. We are funding the responsibilities
we’ve taken on.
Your generous gifts protected the places you care deeply about. We are making certain that we enshrine
those properties in a cloak of security.
Please join us in supporting the Stewardship Endowment Fund. Our ongoing commitment is to keep your
forever place, forever.
