Furniture of Southeastern
Pennsylvania, 1725–1850
APRIL 27–30, 2011
Sponsored by
Over the past four years Winterthur
curators and conservators have studied
the diverse furniture made by Englishand
German-speaking craftsmen in
southeastern Pennsylvania. With a
particular focus on well-documented
objects that identify specific local
patterns within the region, this study
culminates in the landmark publication
and exhibition Paint, Pattern & People:
Furniture of Southeastern Pennsylvania,
1725–1850, presented at Winterthur
April 2, 2011–January 8, 2012. Join us for
a forum of groundbreaking lectures
and workshops by key scholars who
will present new discoveries into
the furniture and connections between
the makers, owners, and places of
southeastern Pennsylvania.
