ACS citation style: quick guide
Citing in-text
Although ACS style allows for different in-text citation styles, the most common method is
to use a number to refer to your sources. The references at the end of the paper will then
be listed in the order they appear in the text.
Example:
Oscillation in the reaction of benzaldehyde with oxygen was reported
previously. 1 Further oscillations were reported to be very systematic. 2

Journal article: General format
Note: In ACS style, all journal titles are abbreviated using CASSI abbreviations. A list of
common journal abbreviations can be found in the ACS style guide.
