- the Hammarby Sjostad development in Stockholm<br />

Mats Egelius will give a presentation of the housing situation in Sweden and give a thourough insight<br />

in the Hammarby Sjöstad development-internationally aclaimed for sustainable design.<br />

Mats Egelius, Senior Partner White,head of our market sector Housing. Mats studied architecture at Oxford,<br />

BA (hons), and at the Architectural Association, London. He has worked in several Swedish architectural firms,<br />

including Ralph Erskines office, and is since twenty years a Partner in White – the largest firm of architecture in<br />

Scandinavia. Mats Egelius has won numerous architectural competitions and has been in charge for more than<br />

180 commissions. Mats is among the leading swedish architects of his generation in housing and urban design.<br />

He designed the first phase of Hammarby sjöstad, and has had over 700 dwellings (in six separate blocks) built<br />

in this internationally praised development. Furthermore, Mats has been co-editor of Arkitektur (the Swedish<br />

review of architecture) and has written the book "Ralph Erskine, architect". Mats Egelius is member of the<br />

Swedish Academy of Architecture and frequently lectures on topics such as housing tendencies, housing for<br />

the elderly, garden cities, solarpanels, own projects and Hammarby Sjöstad (watercity).<br />
