<strong>Air</strong> <strong>Purifier</strong> <strong>Reviews</strong><br />

This pdf file was created to help you understand the differences between various air<br />

purifiers on the market today. Using the metrics used by popular air purifier reviews<br />

sites, we have compiled the specifications of competitor air purifiers on the market<br />

and compared it with our own. While this is not a definitive guide by any means, it<br />

should give a good idea on the various qualifications and specifications that people<br />

look out for when shopping for an air purifier.<br />

While most people may be familiar with HEPA filters, which is the current industry<br />

standard, Clair aims to go beyond just the standard HEPA filter with the e2f filter. In<br />

fact, it was designed for ease of use without compromising on function. So how does<br />

the e2f do this?<br />

Before answering this question, first we need to establish what it means to be a<br />

HEPA filter as a baseline. HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate <strong>Air</strong>, and the<br />

US Department of Energy defines a HEPA filter as the following:<br />

"A throwaway, extended-media, dry type filter with a rigid casing enclosing the full<br />

depth of the pleats. The filter shall exhibit a minimum efficiency of 99.97% when<br />

tested at an aerosol of 0.3 micrometers diameter". 1<br />

Essentially, it means that a HEPA filter, by definition, is capable of capturing at least<br />

99.97% of all particulate matter 0.3 microns in size; and therefore, according to this<br />

definition, the e2f filter is actually HEPA qualified 2 . In fact, not only is the e2f filter<br />

HEPA qualified, it actually goes beyond the HEPA qualifications and captures<br />

particulate matter even smaller than the standard 0.3 microns set by HEPA at an<br />

impossibly small 0.1 microns. 3<br />

In addition to trapping particulate matter beyond the qualifications set by the US DoE,<br />

Clair produces the best air purifier which are ozone-free and release absolutely no<br />

noxious gases whatsoever. This is due to the fact that this product does not use an<br />

ionizer to trap ions in the air. An ionic air purifier typically produces a high voltage in<br />

order to induce a negative charge in particulate matter. Once charged, these ions<br />

then seek an earthed object to get rid of its negative charge, which causes the ions<br />

to stick to a room wall or floor.<br />

However, an unintended consequence for air purifiers with powerful air ionizers is<br />

the generation of ozone. While smaller air purifiers do not have this problem, larger<br />

ones may produce significant amounts of ozone – an extremely volatile compound<br />

that reacts vigorously with the mucous lining and respiratory system of both people<br />

and animals. 4<br />

Instead of generating negatively charged ions, the e2f filter in Clair air purifiers are<br />

statically charged, which attracts non-polarized fine dust. Utilizing the power of static<br />

electricity, fine dust is eliminated from the air you breathe without the introduction of<br />

potentially harmful levels of ozone.<br />
