"Promise me something?" He asked, finally; gazing at me lovingly as he trailed his<br />
fingers down my cheek.<br />
"Anything." I said and I knew I meant it with all my heart.<br />
"Even if we fight or if anything tries to keep us apart... Promise me that you'll still be on<br />
the other side of the bed when I wake up. Promise me that your face will still be the first<br />
thing I'll see every morning. "<br />
"Why?" I asked, though I knew what he meant. He was asking me to stay no matter<br />
what; to keep our promise of forever.<br />
"Because knowing that you're there beside me gives me hope. Hope that amidst all the<br />
superficial things in this world; be it my wealth, my career, friendships...” he looked at<br />
me, his gaze penetrating through my soul. “I have something I can keep forever."<br />
A tear slipped from my eye and I laid my head on his chest, hearing the beat of his heart<br />
that mimicked my own; our hearts beating to the metronome of our promises.<br />
"You have me forever," I said and I swore I heard his heart skip a beat. I hugged him<br />
tighter and murmured the truest words I had ever dared say:<br />
