Forever and a Day
OC- Kaye
Why me?
That was the million dollar question hovering in my consciousness as I faced the mirror;
staring at the girl dressed in white, her hands gripping one another as her lips pursed in
a thin line.
I never thought getting married would be so nerve-racking.
Knock...knock...
"Come in." I croaked and the door opened revealing my father in a crisp black suit,
giving me a warm smile. "Time to go, honey."
I smiled and walked towards him, taking his arm as he led me down to where the
ceremony would be held. My heart beat at every step, practically drumming in my
chest. At the bottom step, my dad led me towards the exit and opened the door. My
breath hitched as a rush of cool wind and the smell of sea salt welcomed me. The
morning light was brilliantly hovering over the ceremony which was situated in the
middle of the beach, against a backdrop of blue seas.
"It's beautiful." I gasped, seeing the chairs lined up at a distance, blue flowers and
ribbons festooned the venue and a small makeshift pavilion stood in the middle… right
at the edge of the shore. If I looked closely enough, I saw a familiar figure standing
there and my heart beat rapidly against my chest at the sight of him.
My dad led me down the stone steps towards the shore and I chanted to myself not to
trip. After all, falling face-first on the sand would not be the ideal thing for a bride.
"Just like you've dreamed of?" My dad whispered, as we got closer to the aisle.
I shook my head, feeling tears pricking my eyes as I saw several flower girls and
bridesmaids, wearing beautiful dresses while the men wore their elegant suit quite
handsomely. I looked at him and smiled, "Even better."
As everyone had walked down the aisle and had taken their places, I felt my hands start
to sweat and my heart beat faster. The wedding march started to sound as we
approached and I thought I was going to faint right there. All eyes turned towards us
and I gulped, hoping my blush was hidden behind the thin veil that shrouded my face.
I smiled as I walked down the aisle with my father's arm as my life support. I saw
several familiar faces and smiled at them, appreciating that they took the time to
celebrate this occasion with me—
"Psst!"
I snapped to my left and grinned when I saw Taehyung giving me a thumbs up.
Jungkook was beside him who stuck out his tongue but before they could do more, Jin
had knocked them on the head, scolding them to keep quiet.
I shook my head slightly in amusement and when I returned my gaze to the front, I
thought I felt my heart skipped a beat.
Standing by the altar, wearing an all-white suit right next to the pastor was the man I
am to wed.
Jung Hoseok, I thought as our gazes met and I felt myself blush at the look in his eyes.
It was full of passion, love, and desire that I found myself drowning into them.
Yoongi and Namjoon stood beside him as his best men, giving me sweet smiles. As I
reached the pavilion, my dad handed me over to Hoseok, shaking his hand before
giving me a kiss on the cheek and joining my mom on the front row, who was already in
tears.
"Kaye." I snapped up and was met by Hoseok's smiling face. I felt tears prick my eyes
as he held my shaking hands, squeezing it tight.
I love you, he mouthed and I found myself falling into my memories.
~~~
Flashback
Hoseok and I had an unusual love story.
I had met him when I worked in Korea for a while, as I was venturing out and trying new
jobs. I worked for entertainment companies as a freelance writer for programs like
dramas and variety shows.
When I met Hoseok, I was one the writer's for their show "Rookie King". Back then, I
was still dating Joonmyun, also known as Suho from EXO.
The BTS kids, as I had called them then, were great guys and it didn't take long before I
formed a friendship with them. I was close with Seokjin, who quite frankly shared the
same characteristics as I did. The both of us were seen as the "mother figure", in
charge of taking care and disciplining the group (though I must say that my cooking
skills aren't as good). I wasn't with them all the time though when I was, we hung out a
lot.
Hoseok and I were pretty close too. He was very friendly and easy to get along with.
Hobi was my age and I connected the most with him though sometimes he acted like a
kid along with the youngsters in the group which made me wonder if boys would
always be "boys".
Although I always saw him as another mother figure along with Jin, seeing how caring
he was to his members… with the added playfulness.
Things got rough by the end of that year when Junmyeon and I went through a rocky
path in our relationship. EXO was getting bigger and bigger, traveling to different parts
of the world and practicing, promoting and doing a whole bunch of stuff that made it
almost impossible for us to see each other. We were both stressed with work and
whenever we would try and squeeze in some time to date, it almost always led to
heated conversations that caused days of not talking to each another. It didn't take
long before the two of us called it quits.
The break up was hard for me but I was glad to have the support of my family and
friends. One of them being, Hoseok.
He was such a bright ball of sunshine that always tried to make me laugh and cheer me
up. He was a great listener and I often found myself texting him late at night, our
conversations ranging from serious to random things.
It didn't take long before I found myself falling in love with him. But the problem was I
didn't want to take the risk of dating another idol when I knew how it went down the
first time. So I kept my feelings hidden though I knew the feelings were mutual; thanks
to one alien friend of mine…
"But hyung likes you too." Taehyung said and my eyes widened in surprise. "What—“
The door burst open revealing Hoseok who just came back from practice. His eyes
widened when he saw me as I gave him an equally surprised look.
"Hey." He said as he rubbed his nape. "Hanging out?"
I smiled, "Yeah. Taehyung called—“
"I'm going to go hang out with Jungkook now." Taehyung said and I gave him an
incredulous look. "But you—“
Before I could call him back, he had already left leaving me alone with Hoseok.
"Aish. That boy really." I grumbled and Hoseok chuckled heartily. "Don't want to hang
out with me?"
I looked up at him and felt my heart race at the smile he threw my way. "I don't mean it
like—“
"Yeah yeah." He grinned as he grabbed his jacket. "Come on. I'll treat you for some ice
cream."
~~~
He took me to my favorite ice cream place near their dorm; the place the boys always
went to for some desserts after late night practices. I wasn't sure why I felt so
uncomfortable then, feeling so shy and unable to look him in the eye.
"Hey." Hoseok called, snapping me out of my reverie. I looked at him, seeing that he
was pointing at my ice cream cone. "You gonna eat that? It's starting to melt."
"Oh!" I said as I licked the side of the cone before it dripped.
"You must be thinking of something serious." He chuckled as he ate his chocolate ice
cream.
I shrugged then looked at a distance. The two of us were seating at the bench just
outside the store; sitting closely but not too close that our arms were touching.
"Kaye?” he suddenly asked and I looked at him, seeing the seriousness in his gaze.
"Yeah?"
"I need to tell you something." I raised my eyebrows, prodding him to continue. Hoseok
was looking unsure—nervous even, and I wondered whatever he had to say that made
him so.
"We've known each other for a while now," he drawled. "And I just… I guess I just... I
think you're—“ he stuttered with his words and it was quite obvious what he was trying
to do that I had to keep a smile.
He huffed, "I know things didn't work out with Junmyeon sunbae and I know I'm in no
position to say that things would be different with me since I'm an idol too..."
My eyes widened at his confession and I felt my heart race as he opened his mouth,
half expecting his next words...
"I guess all I'm trying to say is that I--"
"I like you." We both said at the same time.
"You do?" We said again.
"What?" And again, causing us to laugh.
"So..." He started.
"So...?" I smiled and he groaned, leaning back with his hands covering his face. "You're
laughing at me."
"I'm not!"
"Yes you are." He argued and I stuck out my tongue at him while pushing my cone
towards his face, smearing a bit of ice cream on his nose. "Yah!"
I chuckled as he grabbed my waist, so he can pull me close and smear some ice cream
on my cheek too. The two of us continued with our little ice cream war until we were
panting for our breaths, sticky from the ice cream, and our eyes tearing from laughter.
When we were finally done, Hoseok sighed and grabbed his handkerchief, wiping the
ice cream from my face.
"It's okay—“
"Shh." He hushed as he pushed my hand away and continued to wipe my cheek and
chin. "Let your boyfriend take care of you."
I paused at the term, taking a moment to make sure that what I heard was right.
"Boyfriend." I repeated, giving him a challenging gaze.
"You always take care of us." He muttered as he looked at me, giving me a sweet smile
that was enough to make my heart take flutter. "Now let me take care of you, okay?"
We stared at each other for a while before I sighed and nodded shyly. He smiled
brighter as he leaned close and kissed me on the forehead; and from where his lips
touched my skin, I felt a spark.
End of Flashback
~~~
"We will now have the exchange of vows." The pastor announced and a little boy
moved to the front, holding two pillows where the rings were.
Hoseok took one of the rings and ruffled the kid's hair affectionately before facing me
and holding my hand.
"You're shaking." He said and the crowd chuckled as I blushed.
"Like you're not?" I muttered and rolled my eyes as he grinned.
"Kaye," he started, his thumb rubbed circles at the back of my palm. "Jagiya, baby,
honey—“
"Just get on with it! We know who she is to you!" Yoongi hollered, earning chuckles
from the boys and a sideways glare from Hoseok. "Anyway, I prepared a speech but
the moment I saw you walking down the aisle, every word I wrote escaped me so what
I'm about to say is completely spontaneous. So forgive me if I stutter." He took a deep
breath and I smiled, squeezing his hand once. "Kaye, you are the most beautiful woman
I had ever laid eyes on. You are kind, smart, and talented. I don't think I've ever met
anyone as perfect as you."
Tears started to form at the corner of my eyes as he continued. "As your husband, I
promise to love you forever; to cherish you and keep you safe; to support you in all you
endeavors and be by your side.” He looked at me and smiled, “I promised to make your
fairytales come true. To give you a better happy ending than all the love stories you’ve
ever written combined.”
"I love you, Kaye. And I'm not sure what you saw in me when you're so perfect and I'm
just me." He shrugged. "Why me? Why you picked me will remain a mystery to me.
But—“ He sighed as he brought my hand to his lips. "I am glad you did and I am the
luckiest man alive. I love you, jagiya. Forever and always."
Tears fell from my eyes as he slipped the ring onto my finger and I breathed, as it was
my turn to say my vows.
"Jung Hoseok."
"So formal." Jungkook snickered and I shot him a glare, shutting him up.
"Hobi-ah~ Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now; which is probably the
understatement of the century considering that I'm a writer and words are my life. To be
honest, I never imagined myself to be married. I always thought I would be married to
my career." I looked up at Hoseok who was looking down at me lovingly. "But I guess
God has other plans for me. Fate wanted me to be with you. And with that, I promise to
love you with all my heart, to support you in your career, and be the woman you
deserve... I'll follow you anywhere Hoseok."
Several "awww's" filled the crowd and I watched Hoseok bite his lip, trying to keep his
tears at bay. I reached out and cupped his cheek and continued. "You are perfect, Jung
Hoseok. And any woman would kill for a chance to be with someone like you. And I'm
glad you chose me. I'm the lucky one."
Hoseok's tears flowed from his eyes, his expression a mix of laughter and tears as he
covered my hand with his and kissed it. "The better question is..." I murmured. "Why
not you, Hoseok? Why the hell, not you?"
"Yeah!" Baekhyun hollered as he clapped his hands and everyone applauded along
with him as I slipped the ring onto his finger, sealing my promise.
"By the power vested in me," the pastor announced. "I now pronounce you husband
and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Hoseok lifted the veil, looking at me with tears in my eyes. "I love you." He murmured
as he held my chin and pulled me close.
"Kiss her already, hyung!" Jimin yelled.
"Yeah! Kiss her before I do!" Taehyung joked, earning a hit on the head by Namjoon.
I closed my eyes and moved closer and felt him move away a little. I opened my eyes
and gave him an annoyed look as he smirked. "Are you teasing me?"
"Me? Never." He said. "I want to hear you say it first."
"What?"
"I love you." He whispered and I smiled as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "You
know I love you mo—“ before I could even finish my sentence, Hoseok had already lent
down and crashed his lips to mine, capturing it in a passionate kiss.
~~~
The reception was an event filled with a lot of food, merrymaking, and a lot of
interesting circumstances. And with Byun Baekhyun hosting the event, things got a lot
more interesting.
During the flower and garter ceremony, two unexpected people handedly caught it:
Risa, my maid of honor, and in my amusement... Jeon Jungkook.
"What?" Jungkook asked dumbfounded when Baekhyun explained what was about to
be done with the garter. Jimin was laughing his butt off and offered to be the flower girl
instead while Taehyung was a little jealous at the fact that Jungkook would be doing the
garter ceremony with the girl he has been secretly crushing on for a while.
The ceremony involved a lot of giggling and a whole lot of blushing. I moved closer to
Hoseok whispering in his ear, “Does Jungkook know how—“
Hoseok snorted, “This should be fun to watch.”
"Now Jungkook-ssi." Baekhyun said as he clapped him on the shoulder. "Let's not
keep the lady waiting."
Jungkook gulped as he looked at Risa sitting on the chair. He knelt on one knee,
slipping the garter up her leg.
"Higher!" Jackson hollered and Jungkook's eyes widened like saucers.
"Higher! Higher!" Several people chanted and as he was about to reach her thigh, he
was suddenly grabbed and pulled up by someone.
"That's a little too high." Taehyung muttered as he held the younger one back. The
garter ceremony ended with Risa trying her hardest not to laugh at Jungkook's
expression. The kid looked like he was about to faint.
“I sense something in here.” Baekhyun cooed, pointing between Risa and Taehyung,
who immediately blushed.
“Is there something?” Risa challenged though Taehyung’s face remained passive.
“Taehyung-ssi.” Baekhyun pressed. “Is there something?”
“I have a lot of things to say.” He answered as he stepped closer to her. “But I’m going
to say it when the time is right.”
“What are you waiting for, Taehyung-ssi?” Baekhyun asked, looking interested and
slightly amused.
Taehyung placed a finger to his lips, “The right time to confess.” He whispered then ran
away, leaving a surprised Risa and an amused Baekhyun on stage.
~~~
The cake cutting was also a lot of fun as Hoseok and I took a bite of our five-layered
wedding cake covered in white fondant and blue frosted flowers.
"It's delicious." I said as I moved the fork toward Hoseok's mouth to feed him. He took
a bite and his face turned as bright as a Christmas tree. "You're right. Best cake ever!"
"Even if we didn't go with chocolate like you wanted?" I teased, remembering how I
had requested—pleaded—to get a Mango & Strawberry flavored one instead. Hoseok
smiled and gave my cheek a peck before grabbing the fork from me and getting
another slice. "I'm good with anything as long as you feed me."
I chuckled at his response and kissed him on the cheek, hearing the snapshot of
cameras going berserk.
~~~
As the night rolled by, I watched the crowd from our table up front; seeing familiar faces
of my family and friends. Three idol groups were at the event, Bangtan, Got7 and
though incomplete, EXO had come too. Hoseok and I did a round of the tables,
snapping shots with all the guests and making small talk.
I laughed at the games held, one being a sexy dance battle between Jimin and Jongin.
The battle was won by Jongdae who had showed them the proper way of doing a sexy
dance.
"My eyes!" Sehun hollered from the crowd and everyone laughed at the show the three
boys put on. There was also a paper kiss game which most of the boys joined, cracking
everyone up.
Hoseok's hand never left me the whole night. It was either he was holding my hand, his
arm wrapped around my waist or shoulder, or his hand lying on my knee or thigh. It was
like he had to constantly be touching me and in return, I stayed close; the two of us
practically like human magnets.
"Aren't our newly-wed couple so adorable?" Baekhyun commented and I blushed as
Hoseok smiled, nuzzling my neck. I slapped his thigh playfully and he laughed, giving
my nose a peck instead. The crowd went "aww" though some of the boys gave judging
and gagging faces.
"I believe we have a special number from the groom." Baekhyun suddenly said and I
looked at Hoseok with a surprised and questioning gaze. He only smiled and squeezed
my hand before leaving my side to go up the stage.
The other BTS boys went up with him as well and my heart raced at the excitement for
what they have prepared.
"Good evening everyone. This song is actually my wife's—“ he grinned at the term,
gazing at me lovingly as the boys hooted and slapped his arm playfully. "Favorite song
from our album. She never told me and I had to do some detective work..."
I looked over to my bridesmaid's table and glared at them slightly, knowing that they
were the one's who told him my secret.
"Well now I know her favorite song and I'm—we're here to perform it for her."
"This is for you, noona!" Jimin smiled cutely while Taehyung made a heart sign with his
hands.
"I love you, Yeobo." Hoseok winked before getting in place.
The music began and my heart fluttered, a smile practically breaking my face in half as
the melody of "Blanket Kick" sounded from the speakers.
I swayed and sang along as the song went, my eyes not leaving my husband's.
Can he be any more perfect? I thought, wondering however did I get so lucky?
At his part, Hoseok went over to me and the crowd went wild as he rapped. When the
chorus hit, he did that body wave move in front of me causing me to blush and cover
my face in embarrassment.
"Only you... Only you... Only you." When the song ended, everyone applauded and I
stood up from my seat to give Hoseok a hug.
"Thank you." I murmured and I felt him embrace me even tighter, feeling his lips against
the crook of my shoulder. "You're welcome."
"Well that was some performance!” Baekhyun cheered. “That body wave move got me
though. It looks like our groom couldn't wait for tonight..." I blushed at Baekhyun’s
remark and I almost wanted to push him into the sea right then. The crowd clapped and
hooted as Hoseok's grip tightened on my waist and when I looked up at him he gave
me wink.
"Shut up." I muttered as I slapped his stomach, trying to prevent a smile.
"I didn't say anything!" He protested, his face already breaking into a grin. "Did you like
the body wave though, Yeobo?"
"If I did, what are you going to do about it?" I challenged.
"Probably have an encore tonight." He said, his voice dipping lower as he leaned
closer, giving me a deep gaze. "You know... Just for you."
"Pervert." I said as I gently pushed him away and went back to my seat. Hoseok
chucked heartily, taking his place next to me before grabbing my hand and locking it
with his. Our fingers intertwining automatically like it had a mind of its own.
~~~
"Can I have your attention please?" I stood up from the table with a microphone in hand
and faced everyone. The night air was cool against my skin and I shivered. Hoseok
noticed and immediately removed his coat, placing it over my shoulders. I smiled at the
gentlemanly gesture and as he sat down, he looked up at me with eyes sparkling with
interest.
"I just wanted to thank everybody for coming tonight and celebrating this wonderful
occasion with us." Everyone clapped and I smiled before looking down at Hoseok.
"Before we end the evening, I have something for my husband."
"Me?" Hoseok mouthed and I rolled my eyes and patted his cheek affectionately before
moving to the stage. Yixing had come up as well and I gave him a half hug before he
went to his place at the piano.
"You're not the only one who has a performance prepared." I said and Hoseok smiled
and straightened at his seat, listening intently like a school boy.
Yixing started playing and I started to sing a song I knew was the perfect song for what
I was feeling at the moment.
There are times, when I just want to look at your face
with the stars in the night
There are times, when I just want to feel your embrace
In a cold night
I just can’t believe that you are mine now…
I saw Hoseok’s expression change, seeing the way his face fell and slightly turned
serious, his eyes watering.
Time and again there are these changes that we cannot end
As sure as time keeps going and on and on
My love for you will be forevermore
I just can't believe that you are mine now.
You were just a dream that I once knew
Never thought I would be right for you
I just can’t compare you with anything in this world
You’re all I need to be with forevermore
At the last part of the song, I approached him and he pulled me onto his lap as he
looked up at me with a tearful but happy expression. I cupped his cheek and sang:
As endless as forever
Our love will stay, together
You're all I need to be with forevermore.
"I love you." He murmured before pulling me down for a kiss. Everyone clapped and
held up their glasses in celebration.
"That was beautiful." Baekhyun sniffed. "I think the bride and groom should come up
front and be the night's first dance!"
Hoseok and I stood, holding hands as we went towards the front. A familiar melody
sounded and I smiled, recognizing it as one of my favorite love songs, "I'll Be Loving
You Forever" by Westlife.
"I love this song." I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck. He pulled me close by
the waist, merging our bodies into a slow dance.
"I know." He said as he leant his forehead against mine. "You sang so beautifully a
while ago."
I blushed and looked away from him but he held my chin, making me look at him
straight in the eye.
"Why do you look away?" He asked and I shrugged, not really knowing why.
Hoseok chuckled slightly before giving me a deep gaze. "You better get used to the
compliments, Kaye. Cause I'm not going to stop making them."
I smiled, "You're going to end up spoiling me, Hoseok."
"That's the plan." He chortled.
"But I should be doing that."
"Well, you can sing me love songs everyday…" He bopped my nose with his. "Every
night too."
I returned his Eskimo kiss, making him smile even more. "Deal."
We dance till the next song played, and the next...and the next; the two of us
completely drunk in each other's presence. Several had joined us on the dance floor. I
saw my beautiful bridesmaids and flower girls dancing with their own partners and I
hoped they would all find what every woman secretly desired and hoped for...what I
have now found and own:
A forever to share and cherish with... someone I can give my love to and spend the rest
of my life making mistakes, creating new tomorrow's, and making great memories with.
"You know what I'm excited for?" Hoseok suddenly opened and I snickered, knowing
what was in his mind. "Control your hormones." I flicked his forehead.
"Ow!" He made a face before grabbing my hand and kissing it. "As much as I am
completely ecstatic for that... That's not what I was going to say at all..."
"Then what—“
"I can't wait to fight with you." He said and I scrunched my eyebrows at his weird
answer.
"What—“
"I can't wait to bicker at all the little things like how my closet should be kept organized
at all times or how I can't play loud music when you're writing—“" he sighed as if he
was narrating a life-long dream. "I can't wait to do all those things married couples do."
"You're weird." I said and he chuckled.
"Promise me something?" He asked, finally; gazing at me lovingly as he trailed his
fingers down my cheek.
"Anything." I said and I knew I meant it with all my heart.
"Even if we fight or if anything tries to keep us apart... Promise me that you'll still be on
the other side of the bed when I wake up. Promise me that your face will still be the first
thing I'll see every morning. "
"Why?" I asked, though I knew what he meant. He was asking me to stay no matter
what; to keep our promise of forever.
"Because knowing that you're there beside me gives me hope. Hope that amidst all the
superficial things in this world; be it my wealth, my career, friendships...” he looked at
me, his gaze penetrating through my soul. “I have something I can keep forever."
A tear slipped from my eye and I laid my head on his chest, hearing the beat of his heart
that mimicked my own; our hearts beating to the metronome of our promises.
"You have me forever," I said and I swore I heard his heart skip a beat. I hugged him
tighter and murmured the truest words I had ever dared say:
"I promise you my forever—and a day."
