Nuclear Power Technology Degree Program
This online program, established in 2003, is designed for current and future nuclear power employees.
Students gain fundamental skills and knowledge required for non-licensed operator, maintenance, chemistry
and health physics along with a degree specialized for non-licensed operator and health physics positions in
nuclear generation systems. Students also have the option to transfer into the Bachelor of Applied Science
in Energy Management degree, also available entirely online.
Degree Program
Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program
(NUCP) Certificate
The Nuclear Power Technology program is the basis for an
agreement between Bismarck State College (BSC) and
Exelon to offer students the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum
Program (NUCP) Certificate. NUCP is managed by the
Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). This type of industry
partnership will help provide the next generation of highly
skilled workers for the nuclear industry.
The intent of the certificate is to allow graduates the
opportunity to be waived or exempted from portions of
required initial facility training. Students who successfully
complete specific curriculum within the BSC Nuclear Power
Technology program will be eligible for the NUCP
Certificate. The certificate indicates that the student has
successfully completed nuclear fundamental training
objectives and allows certified students to bypass
fundamentals training once employed in a nuclear facility.
Nuclear Power Technology Associate Degree
Technical Courses
Students choosing to complete all courses within the
Nuclear Power Technology program can follow the
recommended sequence below or create a customized
schedule based on their needs. The National Energy
Center of Excellence (NECE) recommends that students
consult with their academic advisor prior to registration for
academic advice based on individual educational plans.
