!Peter served as a private in the Revolutionary War, under Captain Joseph Holmes, in<br />
Colonel Dayton's 2nd. Regiment. He enrolled from New Jersey, 5 March 1778, and was<br />
discharged the 1st. of October, 1780, from the hospital at Princeton, New Jersey, where he had<br />
been confined.<br />
!Peter was at "The Battle at Monmouth" at Monmouth, New Jersey. General George<br />
Washington was the Commanding officer at this battle.<br />
!Peter applied for his pension on the 2nd. of February, 1825. He was residing at Barrington,<br />
Steuben County, New York at this time. He gave his age as 65 at that time. This would place<br />
his birth year as 1760.<br />
!Peter Putman, Jr., stated in an affidavit dated 2 October, 1852, that his father, Peter<br />
Putman, died at Barrington, Steuben County, New York, on or about the month of August, 1835.<br />
!Putnam, Virginia Bell; D.A.R. Application # 325343; 9 October, 1940. Virginia resided at<br />
Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York in 1940.<br />

six years and two months of age, living at Barrington, Yates County, New York, and that she<br />
