Message to Parents<br />

For all programs, age requirements are as <strong>of</strong> the<br />

first day <strong>of</strong> class unless otherwise specified. Age<br />

requirements are set to benefit the child and make<br />

instruction more consistent. In some instances, the<br />

requirements have been set for the child’s safety.<br />

Program/Athletic Refunds<br />

Parks and Recreation reserves the right to<br />

cancel and/or postpone programs and/or events.<br />

Registered participants <strong>of</strong> recreation programs and/or<br />

special events must notify Parks and Recreation five<br />

business days prior to the start <strong>of</strong> the program/event<br />

to receive a refund. Athletic refunds will not be<br />

issued after the start <strong>of</strong> the league. Athletic refunds<br />

will be assessed a $5 administrative fee. Refunds<br />

require a receipt. All refunds require 4-6 weeks for<br />

processing and delivery via mail.<br />

patrons the opportunity to register online for some<br />

programs, view dates for all programming, and<br />

download various forms required for activities,<br />

events, and reservations. In addition, patrons can<br />

sign up for our e-newsletter to be the first to know<br />

everything that is going on in Parks and Recreation.<br />

Media<br />

The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Killeen</strong> and the Parks and Recreation<br />

Department capture video and still photos at<br />

<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Killeen</strong> sponsored events. Any captured<br />

video or photos are the sole property <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Killeen</strong> and the <strong>City</strong> has the authority to utilize these<br />

photos and/or videos for publications/advertisements.<br />

GENERAL INFORMATION<br />

Coaches Needed<br />

Members <strong>of</strong> the community with knowledge and/or<br />

passion for various sports are encouraged to register<br />

to coach. All potential coaches are required to<br />

successfully pass a criminal background check and<br />

attend a coaches’ meeting to be briefed on program<br />

rules and procedures. Coaches are provided with all<br />

required equipment and resources.<br />

Registration<br />

Registration can be done in person at the<br />

Family Recreation Center or <strong>Killeen</strong> Community<br />

Center. All youth sport registrations will require<br />

a birth certificate and pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> residency. Online<br />

registration can be done for some programs at<br />

www.killeentexas.gov.<br />

Zero-Tolerance Policy<br />

All games are in the hands <strong>of</strong> the umpires and every player, coach, and spectator is required to respect their<br />

authority. Unsportsmanlike conduct such as pr<strong>of</strong>ane language, consumption <strong>of</strong> alcoholic beverages before or<br />

during a game, fighting, etc. will not be tolerated. Any unsportsmanlike conduct by players, coaches, and/or<br />

spectators may result in the removal <strong>of</strong> the individual from the facility and/or league. Violations <strong>of</strong> the above<br />

rule by a parent may result in the removal <strong>of</strong> his/her child from the team for the remainder <strong>of</strong> the season.<br />

ADULT SPORTS<br />

ADULT CO-ED VOLLEYBALL<br />

Adult Co-Ed Volleyball is open to men and women ages 17 and older.<br />

Teams must consist <strong>of</strong> at least 3 men and 3 women. Teams play a<br />

minimum <strong>of</strong> 8 games. Team registration only. Teams must provide<br />

their own jerseys/t-shirts, which feature numbers on the back and<br />

are alike in color. All games will be played at the Lions Club Park<br />

Family Recreation Center on one weeknight and Saturday mornings.<br />

17 & Older<br />

SPRING & SUMMER ADULT SOFTBALL<br />

Register for <strong>Killeen</strong>’s most popular adult sport. Form a team with<br />

your co-workers, organization, family, friends, or church, and<br />

register for the Adult S<strong>of</strong>tball league. The league is divided into<br />

four divisions: Men’s, Co-Ed, Church, and Women’s. Team registration<br />

only. Teams must provide their own jersey/t-shirts which<br />

feature numbers on the back and are alike in color. Men’s and<br />

Co-Ed teams play between 8-10 games. Church and Women’s<br />

teams play a minimum <strong>of</strong> 5 games. All games will be played at<br />

the <strong>Killeen</strong> Athletic Complex Monday through Thursday evenings<br />

beginning at 7:00 p.m. The leagues will be played the following<br />

days: Men’s (Monday & Wednesday), Co-Ed (Tuesday & Thursday),<br />

Women’s (Monday), and Church (Tuesday or Thursday).<br />

YOUTH SPORTS<br />

SPECIAL REQUESTS<br />

Special requests will be granted whenever<br />

possible. However, they will not be guaranteed.<br />

Roster transactions will be made at the<br />

discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>Killeen</strong> Parks and Recreation.<br />

CO-ED T-BALL<br />

T-Ball will be <strong>of</strong>fered to boys and girls 4 years <strong>of</strong> age, who want<br />

to learn the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> hitting and fielding. In T-Ball, players<br />

hit a ball <strong>of</strong>f a batting tee. The primary goals <strong>of</strong> T-Ball are to<br />

instruct children in the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> baseball, and to allow<br />

them to experience the value <strong>of</strong> teamwork. Parents are strongly<br />

encouraged to become involved in this introductory level <strong>of</strong><br />

baseball. The season consists <strong>of</strong> 8 games. All participants will<br />

receive a t-shirt and hat. Participation awards are distributed<br />

at the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the season. All games are played at Lions<br />

Club Park. Players must provide their own glove, shoes, and bat.<br />

REGISTRATION: January 7 - February 1<br />

COACH PITCH<br />

a t-shirt and hat. Participation awards are distributed at the<br />

Boy’s Machine Pitch is <strong>of</strong>fered for boys 7-8 years <strong>of</strong> age.<br />

Boys will receive pitches from a machine. This is a tutoring<br />

tool, as boys take a step-by-step approach to ensure that<br />

they have all the fundamentals to compete at the next level.<br />

ADOPT-A-PARK PROGRAM<br />

<strong>Killeen</strong> Parks and Recreation’s Adopt-A-Park program partners your favorite park(s) with community volunteers<br />

to assist in the general care, litter removal, and maintenance <strong>of</strong> parks in the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Killeen</strong>.<br />

WHO CAN ADOPT-A-PARK?<br />

Anyone interested in improving <strong>Killeen</strong>’s parks and contributing to the quality <strong>of</strong> life in <strong>Killeen</strong>!<br />

WHAT CAN BE ADOPTED?<br />

Entire parks, or sections <strong>of</strong> parks, can be adopted at the discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>Killeen</strong> Parks and Recreation. Sections <strong>of</strong><br />

parks may include, but are not limited to, flower beds, trails, playgrounds, etc.<br />

WHAT CAN BE DONE IN ADOPTED AREAS?<br />

Groups can help in the following ways:<br />

• picking up trash<br />

• raking playground surfaces<br />

• reporting any hazards to park staff<br />

• pulling weeds<br />

• sweeping trails and pathways<br />

• reporting graffiti or vandalism to park staff<br />

• planting (under supervision <strong>of</strong> park staff only)<br />

FACILITY RENTALS<br />

<strong>Killeen</strong> Parks and Recreation <strong>of</strong>fers patrons the opportunity to reserve rooms and athletic fields for personal events. Room<br />

rentals are available at the <strong>Killeen</strong> Community Center. Field rentals are available at <strong>Killeen</strong> Athletic Complex and Lions<br />

Club Park. Facilities such as Lions Club Park and <strong>Killeen</strong> Athletic Complex allow individual groups the opportunity to host<br />

invitational tournaments for baseball, s<strong>of</strong>tball, flag football, or soccer. In addition, patrons can reserve pavilions at the various<br />

parks located throughout the city. Pavilions are a great resource to utilize for social gatherings such as picnics and birthday<br />

parties. ALCOHOL IS PROHIBITED AT ALL PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES. Rental rates are as follows:<br />
