Message to Parents 

For all programs, age requirements are as of the 

first day of class unless otherwise specified. Age 

requirements are set to benefit the child and make 

instruction more consistent. In some instances, the 

requirements have been set for the child’s safety. 

Program/Athletic Refunds 

Parks and Recreation reserves the right to 

cancel and/or postpone programs and/or events. 

Registered participants of recreation programs and/or 

special events must notify Parks and Recreation five 

business days prior to the start of the program/event 

to receive a refund. Athletic refunds will not be 

issued after the start of the league. Athletic refunds 

will be assessed a $5 administrative fee. Refunds 

require a receipt. All refunds require 4-6 weeks for 

processing and delivery via mail.

Killeen Parks and Recreation’s website offers 

patrons the opportunity to register online for some 

programs, view dates for all programming, and 

download various forms required for activities, 

events, and reservations. In addition, patrons can 

sign up for our e-newsletter to be the first to know 

everything that is going on in Parks and Recreation. 

Media 

The City of Killeen and the Parks and Recreation 

Department capture video and still photos at 

City of Killeen sponsored events. Any captured 

video or photos are the sole property of the City of 

Killeen and the City has the authority to utilize these 

photos and/or videos for publications/advertisements. 

GENERAL INFORMATION 

Coaches Needed 

Members of the community with knowledge and/or 

passion for various sports are encouraged to register 

to coach. All potential coaches are required to 

successfully pass a criminal background check and 

attend a coaches’ meeting to be briefed on program 

rules and procedures. Coaches are provided with all 

required equipment and resources. 

Registration 

Registration can be done in person at the 

Family Recreation Center or Killeen Community 

Center. All youth sport registrations will require 

a birth certificate and proof of residency. Online 

registration can be done for some programs at 

www.killeentexas.gov.

TEAM SPONSORSHIP 

Let the community know you support youth sports in our 

community by sponsoring a youth athletic team. For $150 

your company name will be displayed on the back of the 

team jersey. Your company name will also be included on 

the schedules and displayed on the athletic complex marquee 

board. Sponsorships are available during registration for the 

sport in which the sponsorship is desired. Your company 

name will also be listed in our next Now Playing Guide which 

is distributed to 27,000 patrons throughout the community. 

FIELD SPONSORSHIP 

Let the community know you support youth sports in our 

community by sponsoring a youth baseball or softball field. 

For $500 your company name will be displayed on 2’ x 

4’ banners on the back of the 1st and 3rd base dugouts on 

one of our youth baseball/softball fields. In addition, your 

company name will be included on the Athletic Complex 

marquee board. Your company will also receive a FREE 

1/2 page ad. in the next Now Playing Guide which is 

distributed to 27,000 patrons throughout the community.

LEAGUE SPONSORSHIP 

For $2,000 your company name will be incorporated 

into the shirt theme for the entire league. Your company 

name will be displayed on all league schedules. Company 

literature will be included in the team packets distributed 

to the coaches. Your company will also receive a FREE 

full page ad. in the next Now Playing Guide. In addition, 

your company name will be included on sponsorship signs 

posted at the athletic fields, website and in publications.

Zero-Tolerance Policy 

All games are in the hands of the umpires and every player, coach, and spectator is required to respect their 

authority. Unsportsmanlike conduct such as profane language, consumption of alcoholic beverages before or 

during a game, fighting, etc. will not be tolerated. Any unsportsmanlike conduct by players, coaches, and/or 

spectators may result in the removal of the individual from the facility and/or league. Violations of the above 

rule by a parent may result in the removal of his/her child from the team for the remainder of the season. 


ADULT SPORTS 

ADULT CO-ED VOLLEYBALL 

Adult Co-Ed Volleyball is open to men and women ages 17 and older. 

Teams must consist of at least 3 men and 3 women. Teams play a 

minimum of 8 games. Team registration only. Teams must provide 

their own jerseys/t-shirts, which feature numbers on the back and 

are alike in color. All games will be played at the Lions Club Park 

Family Recreation Center on one weeknight and Saturday mornings. 

REGISTRATION: April 15 - May 10 

SEASON STARTS: June 1 

COST: 

$300/team 

AGE(S): 

17 & Older 

SPRING & SUMMER ADULT SOFTBALL 

Register for Killeen’s most popular adult sport. Form a team with 

your co-workers, organization, family, friends, or church, and 

register for the Adult Softball league. The league is divided into 

four divisions: Men’s, Co-Ed, Church, and Women’s. Team registration 

only. Teams must provide their own jersey/t-shirts which 

feature numbers on the back and are alike in color. Men’s and 

Co-Ed teams play between 8-10 games. Church and Women’s 

teams play a minimum of 5 games. All games will be played at 

the Killeen Athletic Complex Monday through Thursday evenings 

beginning at 7:00 p.m. The leagues will be played the following 

days: Men’s (Monday & Wednesday), Co-Ed (Tuesday & Thursday), 

Women’s (Monday), and Church (Tuesday or Thursday). 

SPRING LEAGUE

CO-ED T-BALL 

T-Ball will be offered to boys and girls 4 years of age, who want 

to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In T-Ball, players 

hit a ball off a batting tee. The primary goals of T-Ball are to 

instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball, and to allow 

them to experience the value of teamwork. Parents are strongly 

encouraged to become involved in this introductory level of 

baseball. The season consists of 8 games. All participants will 

receive a t-shirt and hat. Participation awards are distributed 

at the conclusion of the season. All games are played at Lions 

Club Park. Players must provide their own glove, shoes, and bat. 


SEASON STARTS: March 25 

COST: 

$45/player 

AGE: 4 (Age determined as of January 1) 

COACH PITCH 

Coach Pitch is offered to boys and girls 5-6 years of age. Coach 

Pitch is played with a coach pitching to their respective team. 

The season consists of 8 games. All participants will receive 

a t-shirt and hat. Participation awards are distributed at the 

conclusion of the season. All games are played at Lions Club 

Park. Players must provide their own glove, shoes and bat.

will play in every game. Minor League Baseball will NOT provide 

players with the opportunity to advance to any post-season tournaments. 

All games will be played at Lions Club Park. A random 

draw will be used to distribute the players onto teams. Teams will 

play a minimum of 10 games. All participants will receive a shirt, 

pants, and hat. Players must provide their own glove, shoes, and bat. 


SEASON STARTS: April 8 

COST: 

$45/player 

AGE(S): 7-12 (Age determined as of May 1) 

BOYS’ MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 

Major League Baseball allows players the opportunity to advance 

to post-season tournaments. Major League Baseball is compiled of 

three divisions: 10U, 12U, and 14U. All games will be played at Lions 

Club Park. Playing time is determined ENTIRELY by the coaches. 

A draw will be used to distribute the players onto teams. The goal 

of the draw is to create league parody. All players are required to attend 

the player camp to determine their skill level. Teams will play 

a minimum of 10 games. All participants will receive a shirt, pants, 

and hat. Players must provide their own glove, shoes, and bat. 


SEASON STARTS: April 8 

COST: 

$45/player 


CO-ED SUMMER SOCCER 

Soccer will be offered to boys and girls ages 4-14. The leagues 

will be broken down as follows: 4, 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. 

Teams will be determined by school when at all possible. Teams 

play a minimum of 8 games. All participants will receive a team 

t-shirt. Players must provide their own shin guards. All games 

are played on the multi-purpose fields at Lions Club Park. 

REGISTRATION: May 6 - May 31 

SEASON STARTS: July 2

• A non-refundable, $50.00 joining fee must be paid with the creation of all accounts and to re-establish delinquent accounts. 

• Family memberships consist of four (4) members within one (1) household - maximum of two (2) adults. Two (2) 

additional family members can be added to a family at $50.00 per membership. 

• Members, 13 - 15 years of age, can access the 2nd floor ONLY under the supervision of their parent/guardian. 

• Children under the age of 12 are not to be left unaccompanied in the Family Recreation Center; they must be 

accompanied by a parent/guardian, or a sibling above the age of 12. 

• All memberships are non-refundable and rates are subject to change. 


CEN-TEX RACE SERIES

2013 Cen-Tex Race Series 

Join the rapidly growing Cen-Tex Race Series by participating in any of the 16 races that are featured in the series. 

The Cen-Tex Race Series allows runners to accumulate points based on their order of finish in the runs. An annual 

banquet is held to recognize runners for their participation and overall excellence in the series.

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE 

Fathers and daughters, 12 and younger, will enjoy a delicious 

dinner, then dance the night away to music spun by a professional 

DJ. Pictures will be available at the dance for $5/photo.

EASTER EGG’STRAVAGANZA 

Grab your Easter basket and hop on over to the Killeen Athletic 

Complex for an egg’stra special afternoon of fun! The Easter Bunny

specific hunt start times below). After the egg hunts are done hang 

out and enjoy games, face painting, arts & crafts, balloon twisting, 

bouncies, photos with the Easter Bunny and tons of festive fun.

Father Son Campout 

Turn off the tube, pull out the tent, and come enjoy some outdoor father 

son fun at the 2nd Annual Father Son Campout. This year’s campout 

will be held at Lions Club Park on June 15-16, 2013. Cost is 

$25/person. Registration begins on April 29 and will continue until 

June 7, or until all spaces are filled. Limited space is available.

Mother Daughter Sleepover 

Mothers and daughters ages 5-10 are invited to an evening of fabulous fun!

Killeen Parks and Recreation’s Adopt-A-Park program partners your favorite park(s) with community volunteers 

to assist in the general care, litter removal, and maintenance of parks in the City of Killeen. 

WHO CAN ADOPT-A-PARK? 

Anyone interested in improving Killeen’s parks and contributing to the quality of life in Killeen! 

WHAT CAN BE ADOPTED? 

Entire parks, or sections of parks, can be adopted at the discretion of Killeen Parks and Recreation. Sections of 

parks may include, but are not limited to, flower beds, trails, playgrounds, etc. 

WHAT CAN BE DONE IN ADOPTED AREAS? 

Groups can help in the following ways: 

• picking up trash 

• raking playground surfaces 

• reporting any hazards to park staff 

• pulling weeds 

• sweeping trails and pathways 

• reporting graffiti or vandalism to park staff 

• planting (under supervision of park staff only)

FACILITY RENTALS 

Killeen Parks and Recreation offers patrons the opportunity to reserve rooms and athletic fields for personal events. Room 

rentals are available at the Killeen Community Center. Field rentals are available at Killeen Athletic Complex and Lions 

Club Park. Facilities such as Lions Club Park and Killeen Athletic Complex allow individual groups the opportunity to host 

invitational tournaments for baseball, softball, flag football, or soccer. In addition, patrons can reserve pavilions at the various 

parks located throughout the city. Pavilions are a great resource to utilize for social gatherings such as picnics and birthday
