I. Welcome and Introductions T. Purcell<br />
Meeting called to order at 9:12 AM<br />

b. Review of March <strong>Minutes</strong> Kim motioned to approve, Karen seconded -<br />
<strong>Minutes</strong> approved<br />
II. Eastwood Early Childhood Announcement K. Schneider<br />
Eastwood Early Childhood center will be opened, anticipated to be by next school year;<br />
MMCAA Early Headstart, Early Childhood special education, Early On, Great Start, on-site<br />
daycare, community playgroups, etc. If you are interested in having a clinic (WIC,<br />
Immunization, etc) please contact Karen as soon as possible.<br />
III. Community-wide support for Parent Education A. Strickler<br />
Andi Strickler talked about planning committee with the addition of parenting group leader<br />
regardin<br />
IV. 10 <strong>Minutes</strong> with Mark Watkins:<br />
<strong>Osceola</strong> County Emergency Management<br />
Mark handed out slides with the updated Emergency plan for <strong>Mecosta</strong> and <strong>Osceola</strong><br />
Counties. He discussed the roles of <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Services</strong> in a plan such food distribution.<br />
On April 25 th after monthly team meeting, there will be a special meeting by invitation for<br />
discussion on the <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Services</strong> piece and how each agency fits into the plan; also to find<br />
where the gaps may be. Marks contact information is on his card with the packet. Mark<br />

V. Committee/Workgroup Reports<br />
a. Executive Committee T. Purcell<br />
Met in March; approved Larry’s expenses for March 30 th TA meeting. Revamping<br />
membership roster registration form, will be coming out via email prior to next meeting –<br />
please bring back filled out at next full meeting.<br />
b. Advocacy Committee T. Czerwinski<br />
Met in March and took action on a couple of issues – sent letters to Rep. Potvin and Senator<br />
Booher in support of home meals and senior programs. Sent email to DCH thanking them<br />
for their proposal on integrated care. Mental Health parity is for Autism only (Michigan is<br />
one of only a couple of states that do not include all mental illness) Support parity for any<br />
mental illness<br />
c. Poverty Reduction<br />
Later today will meet with FSU folks who compiled the large survey that went out –<br />
reviewing data. Getting Ahead program = United Way has approved partial funding for this<br />
program. Coming up this year: Double up Food Bucks. Help spread the work, local<br />
match necessary for this funding, well on our way but if you have any financial support,<br />
please send on to the City of Big Rapids. Next meeting is April 27, 11:30-1:00. Can<br />
register online at the MOISD website. Welcome everyone.<br />
d. Housing Continuum of Care Committee L. Emig
15 landlords came to the landlord luncheon – one was new – luncheon went quite well and plan to repeat next year.<br />
e. Coordinator’s Report L. Emig<br />
Not much to report – Finance committee meets next week.<br />
Larry has much information to share – he suggested for those interested, to get on the email distribution from<br />
Michigan’s Children – they have a good system for getting legislative information out in an easy to read format.<br />
VI. Peer to Peer Collaboration Membership<br />
VII. Reconvene T. Purcell<br />
Kim shared that there was discussion around having another assist training (for suicide crisis)<br />
Larry shared that the <strong>Osceola</strong> Community Foundation just awarded $122,000 to 30+ agencies. Second grant round<br />
will be in October. Thursday May 3 rd is their only annual fundraiser. If you have any photos from programs that were<br />
funded through the foundation, please send them on to Larry.<br />
Dave Bitler shared that an Eagle Village presentation was given to area churches regarding Foster homes, etc. –<br />
encourage people to find out more.<br />
211 – if you have any clients coming to you, encourage them to call the 211 number so their needs can be adequately<br />
assessed and met.<br />
