The NEUROTEC range of <strong>orthoses</strong> have been designed specifically<br />
to treat patients who suffer from conditions such as:<br />
Cerebral Palsy<br />
CVA (stroke)<br />
Multiple Sclerosis<br />
Parkinsons Disease<br />
Traumatic brain/spinal cord injury<br />
Alzheimers Disease<br />
Dementia<br />
These patients often have lost range of motion resulting<br />
from adaptive tissue shortening due to immobility often<br />
<strong>com</strong>pounded by altered and varying muscle tone.<br />
Unlike orthopaedic contractures these patient<br />
groups rarely present with adhesions which<br />
require aggressive stretching to restore full range.<br />
Indeed if such patients are treated in this manner<br />
unnecessary pain and potential injury may result.<br />
In addition this form of treatment may actually<br />
stimulate the Stretch Refl ex which will cause the<br />
affected area to pull even further into fl exion.<br />
The treatment rationale behind the NEUROTEC range<br />
is designed to provide <strong>com</strong>fortable well padded<br />
<strong>orthoses</strong> which will provide a low load progressive<br />
stretch to the affected area to gradually improve<br />
range of motion and reduce underlying tone. These<br />
devices allow a limited amount of fl exion and can<br />
therefore adapt with the patient during high tone<br />
episodes returning via a spring back effect to their<br />
original position once the episode has passed.<br />
The range offers signifi cant advantages in terms<br />
of <strong>com</strong>fort and <strong>com</strong>pliance to patients in these<br />
groups <strong>com</strong>bined with often signifi cant postural<br />
improvements. The consequential benefi ts in<br />
terms of improved respiration, circulation and<br />
pressure reduction are signifi cant and contribute<br />
to improved physical and emotional wellbeing.<br />
The NEUROTEC range has been designed by<br />
practitioners in the fi elds of Orthotics and Physical<br />
Therapy to assist in the effective treatment of<br />
contractures and postural deformities. We wel<strong>com</strong>e<br />
