Dear Devotee,
“kimekam daivatam loke kim vApyekam parAyaṇam
stuvantaḥ kam kamarcantaḥ prApnuyurmAnavAḥ shubham
ko dharmaḥ sarva dharmAṇAm bhavataḥ paramo mataḥ
“Who is the one refuge for all in this universe? Who is the greatest Lord in the
world? By eulogizing whom, can a person reach auspiciousness? By worshipping
whom, can a person attain peace and prosperity? What is the greatest dharma of all
Dharmas? By chanting whose name, can a creature proceed beyond the bonds of
samsaara?”- queries Yudhishtira.
Bhishma responds that by reciting the Sahasra (1000) nama (names) of Vishnu, the
Supreme Being, all the queries of Yudhishtira will be answered. It is widely accepted
that the chanting of this stotram gives relief from all sorrows and leads to happiness
and peace of mind. There is a popular belief that Vishnu Sahasranama is one of the
three great stotras which is free from the curse of Sage Parasurama hence grants
fruits immediately in Kaliyuga.
In Sanathana Dharma, we say, “Pitru Devo Bhava”, meaning, “Revere your Father
as God”. We are taught by our mothers’ right from childhood to honor our father
based on this principle.
While on Mothers’ Day, we honored all Mothers by 108 Suhasinis reciting the
Sahasranamavali of Sri Lalitha, we would like to honor all Fathers by propitiating Lord
Vishnu, on this Fathers’ Day on Sunday, Jun 16 th , 2012 at 10.00 am, by performing
Sri Vishnu Sahasranama archana to the accompaniment of parayanam by devotees.
We are requesting a minimum of 100 devotees to sign up for the special event to
participate in the Parayanam of Vishnu Sahasranama, while the priests offer Pushpam
and Tulasi (flowers and Holy Basil) to the Lord. The recitation of the Sahasranama by
100 or more devotees will be a Laksharachana for Sriman Narayana.

Please call temple office (972 943 9543) to sign up for the Parayanam of Sri Vishnu
Sahasranama or send an email confirmation with name, telephone number to
ganesha@htnt.org. For the convenience of devotees, limited number of copies of
Sahasranama is available in different languages. Devotees interested in reciting are
requested, if possible, to bring their copies in the language of their choice.
Also, devotees interested in sponsoring the special Mahaprasadam on the occasion of
Fathers’ Day are requested to call the office for further details.
Sincerely,
Sri Ganesha Temple Management.
