The South African German Training Services is the management
company providing strategic marketing, management performance
leadership for the two training divisions.
The Commercial Advancement Training Scheme (C.A.T.S) and
The Builders Training Centre-Soweto (BTC)
The SAGTS was established by the Southern African German Chamber
of Commerce and Industry on the 1 st January 2008. The SAGTS’ main
objective is to ensure the effective operation of the two training
divisions and to deliver a unique quality skills training experience.

Commercial Advancement Training Scheme (C.A.T.S)
The Commercial Advancement Training Scheme (C.A.T.S) is closely linked with
both, the Southern African and German companies’ nationally.
Our partnership led to the formulation of training programmes, collaborated
with the current Sector Education Training Authority SETA curriculum.
This unique youth empowering training method is predominantly informed by the specific
sector needs of the participating companies and sponsors.
All businesses have an exceptional skill set requirement and this is satisfied by the
C.A.T.S programme. Founded by the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and
Industry in 1985, the programme was adapted from the German Dual System, and it
integrates theoretical learning with practical experience in the workplace.
The 2 year vocational training program leads to a certificate of competency in
Business Administration recognised by the European Union.
A second Certificate in Office Administration (learnership) is issued by FASSET;
Quality assured by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) and is embedded
in the C.A.T.S qualification.
New Developments at C.A.T.S
We are undergoing the accreditation process to be a Pastel Training Provider;
we also plan to offer an Energy Officers’/Managers’ Course.
This will form part of our offering in the year 2012.

Builders Training Centre Soweto (BTC)
BTC-Soweto is a construction training project active since 1992. We are
accredited with the Construction Education Training Authority (CETA) and
have a close working relationship with the Department of Labour and the
Department of Public Works. Founded by the Southern-African German
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, our one year programme is designed to
equip disadvantaged young adults, men and women with basic building skills.
BTC-Soweto undertakes special training projects for communities in various
townships and for companies with specialised training needs in the field of
construction, such as the Department of Labour and the Expanded Public
Works Programme. Learners leave the centre with the knowledge and skills
needed to be employable. This empowers our learners to participate
meaningfully in their communities.

The Solar Water Heater Installation and Maintenance Training Centre
The demand for this kind of training and expertise is extraordinary, many of
the successful trainees have found employment in the governments housing
program. The main objective is to overcome the lack of a labour force in the
field of solar energy.
The BTC-Soweto aims to provide facilities for theoretical and practical
training for the installation and maintenance of solar thermal applications for
hot water heating and electricity generation.
