Initial Text Processing A number of pupils in year 8 and year 11 were given the opportunity to study for and sit the external examination in Initial Text Processing. Candidates have to type out and correct 3 business documents within 1 hour. For every mistake that they fail to correct or make themselves they lose a mark. Candidates can be awarded a Pass or Distinction at this level. Academic Success Summary As a medium sized comprehensive school, our results always show a range of values depending on our intake each year. We are proud of our results and we gain high levels of academic success for our pupils. Pass rates have improved considerably over the past few years. All pupils who complete the compulsory aspects of a course will be entered, this gives pupils the opportunity to gain a core of 9 GCSEs, although some pupils with a flair for particular aspects of the curriculum have passed more, (a minimum of 5 GCSEs is the requirement to enter Further Education).
