SITUATION
The surrounding area of North Cornwall is often regarded as the most
popular coastal destination in the country. Unspoilt coastline can be
found for miles with fantastic beaches and coastal walks. The immediate
surrounding to Porteath is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, part
farm land and part National Trust. Whilst Porteath is well hidden in its
own peaceful position the vibrant scene of North Cornwall is a stones
throw away.
The nearby villages of Polzeath and Rock provide day to day shopping
facilities. Rock offers an exceptional range of boating and water-sports
facilities as well as the links course, St. Enodoc Golf Club. Across the
Camel Estuary is the picturesque fishing harbour of Padstow (accessible
via a passenger ferry from Rock), whilst further up the river is the
market town of Wadebridge, providing a much wider range of shopping,
schooling and recreational facilities.
PROPERTY
Converted in 1995 from two stone barns dating back to 1851, Porteath
Barn has been lovingly restored, with immense attention to detail. The
present owners have preserved many original features, creating an
impressive yet comfortable home.
In order to maximise the views Porteath has a reverse level layout
Downstairs there are five bedrooms and three bathrooms, one of which
is en-suite to the master bedroom and dressing room. All bedrooms have
French windows to the garden.
On the first floor (on a higher ground level) are the sitting room, dining
hall and kitchen/family room with 4 oven Aga, and doors opening onto a
secluded deck. The spacious sitting room stretches the full length of the
house with triple aspect views, a vaulted ceiling and French windows to
the garden.

GARDENS AND
GROUNDS
Porteath Barn is set in a truly
magnificent position with
immaculate private gardens that roll
down the valley towards the sea. The
ponds at the bottom of the garden
border National Trust land which
adjoin the coast line. A footpath
leads from Porteath to Epphaven
beach. Epphaven, which at low tide
becomes one with Lundy bay, is
reached only by foot or boat with the
closest road about half a mile away.
There is planning consent for a three
bedroom log cabin.
