Secretary’s Message:
Directory:
I am happy to report that the majority of you have received your directory at various events. If you are listed in this
directory and have not yet obtained your copy then please call me to arrange for your copy to be collected in person
or to be posted to your home address. Please kindly note you will need to pay £2.50 to cover P&P.
Email Address:
Your email address is very vital in helping us move towards paperless operations. We want to go green and stop
sending hard copies where possible. Therefore if you have an email address and you have not provided together
with your address entry in the directory then please kindly provide these details to me at secretary@valam.co.uk.
For those members who still require a printed copy, please contact me and I will ‘flag’ your name and address to
continue to receive hard copies until advised otherwise. Your help in this will be highly appreciated and will result in
a substantial savings in printing and postage costs.
Web Site:
Although a substantial amount of background work has been completed in creation of a UKVBA database, the Main
Web Site has yet to be overhauled to make it more valuable and enjoyable for all our members. We have made this
our highest priority and would request anyone who has experience in web design, automation, linking databases to
web site and other useful tools to contact Pareshbhai Pandya or myself. The UKVBA has a large number of talented
IT professionals and also those studying IT who can assist us and I would request on behalf of the committee that
they please help in this process.
Surplus Food at our Events:
The Committee’s policy is that any food left over does not go to waste. It is instead donated and distributed to those
in need. These include many Asian people, particularly the elderly people living with their children or in a residential
care home. We therefore kindly request community member’s to refrain from taking food home after an event. This
excludes collection for disabled members or anyone not able to attend due to a sickness.
Membership Fee:
We request anyone who has not yet paid 2011/2012 membership fee to do so without delay as this is what enables
us to host our events and also contribute part of it to another charity. Please do not wait until the anniversary when
the following years Membership Fee becomes due. The Committee has a database of those that have paid and this
will be periodically updated and published. The Committee also wishes to express its gratitude to those Members
who have paid their Fee for 2011/2012.
The aim of this committee is to re-ignite the interest and spark that once made our community so exciting and attractive.
Through a variety of sporting, cultural and religious events, the committee members have been striving to provide
the community with interesting and interactive events. As some of you may have noticed during the various
events held in the past year, our major concern has been the lack of attendance from our own members. We are
constantly doing our best to hold just UKVBA events, as well as Joint Community’s events with BBSL & BSNL, however,
with the poor attendances the identity of our community is dying. The varied events held in the past 12 months
have targeted different age groups, and a wide variety of activities have taken place, to continue as such, the committee
needs the support of the community. As we enter a defining phase with regards to the future of UKVBA, I
urge you all to support OUR community. Hasit Purohit
Events may be updated at any time, for an up-to-date listing please visit www.valam.co.uk
