Reliable Controls Corporation is a privately held, Canadian
corporation that designs, develops, and manufactures
Internet-connected building controls. The
products are used to monitor and control the energy
of mechanical and electrical equipment found in every
kind of building.
The company was founded by Mr. Roland Laird in 1986,
a BCIT grad. He started the company in his father’s
basement in Surrey BC, and remains very active in the
company as President. The company relocated to Victoria in 1995 and currently has over 80 employees
in Victoria and support offices in Calgary-AB, Toronto-ON, Philadelphia-PA, Columbus-OH, San
Francisco-CA, Melbourne-Australia and Shanghai-China.
Managed by a talented group of individuals, every employee
in the organization makes a direct contribution to product development,
processes, and/or support. A simple corporate
philosophy built on openness and honesty in all aspects of
business has resulted in steady growth and long-term relationships
with the most satisfied customers in the industry.
The company has grown steadily as a high tech manufacturer,
and currently serves over 150 Authorized Dealers in
20 countries around the world. In 2008, Reliable Controls
and control are hardwired to Reliable Controls products.
Our outstanding customer loyalty
stems from our ability to be good listeners
All design, development, assembly,
service, and repair are
housed under one roof in our
Canadian head office. We steadfastly
resist the trend to outsource
any component of our business,
and prefer instead to develop our
own processes internally and retain
full control of our quality.
As a result, all Reliable Controls
products carry an industry-leading
5 year warranty.
The company is frequently recognized as one of the top 25 hi-tech companies on Vancouver Island,
and has received recognition for community involvement and support for sustainability development
programs. In February, 2009, the company was honored with the “Manufacturer of the Year” award for
Vancouver Island.
Some buildings of note that highlight the robust nature of the Reliable Controls MACH-System are the
University of Victoria campus, The US Department of Transportation, and Dockside Green.
The United States Department of Transportation headquarters is the first
cabinet-level headquarters to be designed and constructed in the US capital
in over three decades. Accommodating over 5,000 federal employees, the
eleven-acre site runs on a Reliable Controls MACH-System.
Dockside Green is a 1.2 billion dollar development in Victoria, British Columbia earning
the world’s first platinum LEED-ND (Neighbourhood Development) certification.
The site’s first completed building broke the world record for the highest LEED point
score. The BACnet-ready Reliable Controls MACH-System installed at Dockside
Green allows the developer to be flexible in future development and equipment
choices.
