Curriculum:
We have a creative curriculum that encourages children to make
connections between all areas of their learning and develop their
thinking skills.
Topics are planned for each term which embed science, geography,
history, ICT, design and art opportunities. Literacy and numeracy
are carefully planned to be as relevant as possible to the topic, with
key skills taught separately as needed.
Standards:
Our children achieve well at all levels in the school. All class
teachers regularly review children’s progress and parents and carers
are kept involved and informed of their child’s achievements. We
have an established team of staff who know the children well and
who are dedicated to ensuring that all children make extremely
good progress.
The Extended School:
The school has an established Breakfast Club and there are on-site
After School Club facilities. This high quality extended provision
allows pupils to be at school from 7.45am – 6pm.
Challenge:
All children are encouraged to
take risks with their learning.
They are encouraged to
become independent learners.
Challenging, open-ended
questions, tasks and topic work
are encouraged to allow
children to investigate and
develop the skills of learning.
Ofsted quotes:
“Teaching is good, particularly in
terms of personal relationships
and classroom practice”
“The curriculum is strong in a
number of ways, including
developing literacy and numeracy
both discretely and within other
subjects”
Ofsted quote:
“Pupils go on to make good
progress, to reach above-average
standards at the end of Year 2,
and are well prepared for their
transition to Middle School by the
end of Year 4”
