INTRODUCTION
For many people around
the world pole dancing
is a perfect way to work
out, have fun and express
themselves. Pole dancing
improves your strength,
coordination, flexibility
and confidence and many
will agree that once you’ve
done one class, you’re
hooked for life.
Recently pole dancing
became more popular
and various new styles
derived from traditional
ones. Modern day pole
dancing is a fusion of
Chinese Pole, Mallakhamb
(Indian Pole), exotic
dance, ballet, gymnastics,
circus, acrobatics, yoga,
contemporary dance,
martial arts, you name it!
As it is a performance art,
anything is possible!
In traditional Chinese pole,
it’s often not just one, but
two or more dancers that
perform simultaneously.
This became the inspiration
for modern day duo and
group pole dancing.
Together with another
pole enthusiast you can
enter a whole new world
of spectacular tricks and
poses. Duo pole challenges
your strength, endurance
and creativity, but when
concurred, you can
enjoy an amazing routine
together.
Gabriela Swat started pole
dancing in 2010, and soon
thereafter discovered duo
pole. Her go-getter spirit
and relentless endurance
made her one of the
best duo pole dancers in
Europe.
She and her partners won
numerous titles over the
past few years. Gabriela
has an extensive repertoire
of single and duo pole
moves and with her
contagious energy she is
a very respected teacher
for several pole dance
schools throughout the
Netherlands.
It takes only one class from
the vibrant and slightly
crazy “Gaby” to learn pole
dancing is hard work but
most of all: a lot of fun .
Pole dancing is truly her
passion and she wants to
share the joy of duo pole
with the world. With this
book, Gabriela not only
documents an extensive
amount of duo pole moves,
she also wants to challenge
the reader to be creative.
In her experience, duo pole
requires the athletes to
be inventive, to gracefully
execute tricks and get
in and out of poses. The
moves, existing and new,
are named after Gaby’s
favourites: characters from
popular animation films,
nature, history, human
characters and emotions.
The imagery in this book
serves as an inspirational
platform from which you
and your partner can
develop in the art of
duo pole and create a
breathtaking routine.
