The Shipyard Reuse & Reprogram PROJECT FOCUS: The focus of this project was to use the existing site of the Merrill Stevens Shipyard on the Miami River to adaptively include a museum, a shipbuilding school, and a restaurant on site. We were not prohibitted to alter any of the existing structures of the area and we had to add another water slip for boats. I created a building that was lifted off of the ground allowing for ship operations to continue on the ground floor. The building cantilevers over the water and the street making itself present. It is connected to the other existing structures by an elevated path that plugs into the main building.
