ú Packet loss
ú No. of input/outputs in a S/W
- Practical: 23 or more limited:
- by the number of possible re-circulations within a loop
- by the excessive hardware for larger buffer depth.
Solution:
- Multi-stage switched large optical buffer (>4000 for 8
input/output and 4 stages [D K Hunter et al, 1998]
