Calvary celebrates the
sanctity of human life
Today Calvary Church observes Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Please join us as we
solemnly remember the passage of Roe vs. Wade and give thanks for God’s gift of life, reaffirming
our commitment to the value and dignity of every human being.
Our observance includes a powerful message by Dr. Norman Geisler this morning, plus
a special testimony during the worship service. We also have Galleria tables for ministries and
agencies which support adoption, orphans, and the value of human life, plus a display of white
crosses on the Calvary front lawn representing children lost to abortion. Please stop by these
tables in the Galleria this morning for more information about featured ministries and agencies:
“Warnings for Us” (1 Corinthians 10:1–13)
Pastor Jason Jimenez
n January 22, 2012
From the Senior Pastor
Sanctity of life
Today is
national
“Sanctity
of
Human
Life Sunday.” Calvary
Church strongly believes
that all human
life is sacred. Every
child, every adult,
and every senior has John & Gudny Munro
dignity and is equal
in the sight of God. It is a national disgrace
that although the right to life and liberty are
stated to be “unalienable” in the Declaration
of Independence, equal rights in the U.S. don’t
apply to the most helpless and innocent of all
people — the unborn.
We praise God for all of our children at
Calvary. They are not an inconvenience
or accident, but gifts from the Lord. It is
wonderful that so many in our congregation
have adopted children and also care for foster
children and those in orphanages. It is one
thing to protest against abortion; it’s quite
another thing to show compassion to children
who are unwanted by their parents.
This morning we welcome Dr. Norman Geisler
to Calvary’s pulpit. He and his wife, Barbara,
are active members of Calvary Church. He had
the dubious privilege of teaching Pastor David
Ingrassia and myself when we were students
at Dallas Theological Seminary! I know you will
give Dr. Geisler a warm welcome as he speaks
on this important subject. n
Calvary Life Center construction is
progressing very well! Here’s what’s
happening currently out on the job site:
n The concrete building pad is now in
place for one auditorium, the gym, and a
large section of the main corridor. The other
auditorium slab will be placed next week.
n Masons are now constructing block
walls around the gym and will begin interior
auditorium walls soon.
n Steel construction begins in early February.
n Overall, the Calvary Life Center is on
schedule to open in November 2012.
Choir & Orchestra open for new members
Attention musicians! The Calvary Choir and Orchestra are seeking new members for the
coming season. While the vital and vibrant role that these teams serve in our corporate worship
is evident most every Sunday, what is not so visible are our Wednesday rehearsals, which involve
the preparation of great music and rich Christian community centered around the Word of God
and prayer. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, call Calvary your church home, have some skill
in vocal or instrumental music (orchestra or band), have a worshiping heart, and desire to serve
in a dynamic worship team, we invite you to get more information. Contact: Worship Ministries
Will you host a child in need this summer?
What if a “mission trip” could happen in your own home? The American Belarussian Relief
Organization (ABRO) helps needy children who live in areas contaminated with radiation from
the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident find hope for the future through summer placement
in host homes in the US. There are many ways you can help, including hosting a child in your
home, sponsoring a child, providing medical support, donating needed items, coordinating
group activities, or becoming a prayer partner.
Host/Co-Host family applications and deposits will be accepted in February with final
payments due in March. The children arrive in the US in June. The estimated cost per child is
$2,100. Please stop by Galleria table 4A this morning for more details. Contact: Rommy & Marta
