World leaders in
prepayment solutions

Over
25years
experience
Conlog specialises in providing holistic electricity prepayment
solutions to enable utilities worldwide to effectively collect, manage
and protect their revenue.
Our offer comprises prepaid electricity meters, vending and
revenue management solutions, as well as all the necessary support,
consultation and training required to ensure your project is a
success.
Conlog’s pioneering spirit, coupled with an unrivalled depth of
experience in prepayment which spans over 25 years, has resulted
in us developing numerous world firsts and industry standards. It is
this spirit and the embracing of technology that continues to drive
us to provide solutions to address the challenge of service delivery.

Global footprint
Conlog’s headquarters are based on the east coast of
South Africa, however the company is a truly global
operation, with customers spanning more than 30
countries on four continents.
In addition, with the world’s largest installed base of
over nine million STS prepaid meters and the
associated vending infrastructure, more than
45 million people interact with a Conlog product
each day.

Smart Solutions
Prepaid metering portfolio
Conlog specialises in prepayment solutions and therefore our
metering product range is one of the most comprehensive in the
industry.
Customers are able to select from single phase devices for the
residential sector, through to three phase devices for light
industrial applications. We also offer a variety of metering
footprints, to enable cost effective solutions for the deployment
of prepayment into both new and retrofit environments.
Metering footprints available:
> Common base: designed by Conlog and now an industry
standard, the common base metering device comprises a two
part housing – being a wallbase and the active meter. This
configuration allows for the pre-installation of the wallbase,
following which the meter is secured into the socket wallbase.
> DIN rail: a standard widely used for mounting circuit breakers
and industrial control equipment, the meter is a small, compact
device which enables multiple devices to be installed in one
enclosure, for example a pole-top box or kiosk.
> BS footprint: traditionally used in credit metering applications,
our prepaid meters are equipped with a BS terminal block,
making it ideal for retrofit installations.
Further, there are two meter configuration types in the
prepayment industry:
> Split: where the metering device is split from the customer
interface keypad, i.e. the meter is placed outside the premises
in a meter kiosk, or mounted on a pole. A small keypad is
placed inside the premises to enable customer interaction. This
provides greater security for a utility, as the metering device is
not easily accessible to the consumer.
> Combo: the metering device and keypad are combined into one
device. This entire unit is installed within the consumers’
premises.
Standard features:
All our meters are manufactured to the highest quality standards
and are STS approved. In addition, all meters are available with:
> Class one or Class two accuracy
> Enhanced tamper detection
> Reverse energy detection and measurement
> Delayed reconnection
> Programmable under and over voltage trip
> History of tokens entered into the meter
> Variety of consumption information
> Consumption rate indicator
> Galvanic isolation, where applicable
“
Our meters are manufactured
to the highest quality standards
Single Phase Meters
Conlog BEC 22
This single phase prepayment meter is ideal for
retrofitting existing electromechnical meters,
due to the British Standard (BS) footprint.
The meter is installed in the consumer’s
premises and comes standard with a delayed
reconnection feature to protect your network.
Conlog BEC 23
These meters consist of a two-part housing, being
the wallbase and active meter. The minimum
starting current is just 20mA, enabling the
effective measurement of energy efficient
products. Meter variants include up to 80A, as well
as a 20A device with integrated earth leakage and
double pole circuit breaker.
Conlog BEC 42
A split configuration meter, whereby the
metering device is outside the home and the
customer keypad is inside the dwelling, in a BS
footprint housing. The meter includes thermal
shutdown protection, as well as programmable
power thresholds.
Conlog BEC 44
This innovative meter was the world’s first DIN rail
mounted prepaid meter, developed by Conlog in the
1990s, revolutionising the industry. The
compact design ensures multiple units can be housed
in one enclosure, whilst the split configuration ensures
enhanced security, as access to the meter is restricted.
The latest innovation is the ability for the device to
operate as both a prepaid and conventional post-paid
meter and, when selecting the wireless version, it
forms the building block for future smart technologies.

Three Phase Meters
Conlog BEC 32
The three phase, combo meter range uses a BS footprint
and is one of the most robust and hardy meters in the
industry. This is reflected in the device’s ability to be fully
operational with only one phase powered, as well as in poor
reticulation environments where the voltage can dip and
spike.
Conlog BEC 62
This three phase, four wire, split configuration meter has a
wealth of functionality, including the ability to detect
tamper, even in the absence of an incoming supply. As with
all Conlog three phase meters, the device is able to operate
in some of the hardiest environments.
Conlog BEC 66
Another Conlog innovation is the three phase high current
meter, which measures loads up to 250 Amps per phase –
another world first. The split meter is housed within a
robust metal box, with asymmetrical mounting brackets
and is ideal for large residential installations or light
industrial applications.

With or without strings?
Conlog’s split metering technology comprises a metering device
being installed outside the premises, whilst the consumer has a
keypad installed inside the property. The beauty of this solution
is that all the intelligence is housed within the meter, whilst the
customer keypad simply pulls data from the meter.
In order for the two devices to communicate, there are two
options available to customers:
Wired solution: simple two core cable, or twinflex, is used
between the meter and the customer keypad.
Wireless solution: the meter and consumer keypad communicate
via radio frequency, on the internationally open and accepted
license free ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band.
“
We have the world’s largest
installed base of STS prepaid meters
Revenue Services
The success of any prepayment project lies in a utility’s ability to collect and manage their
revenue. To this end, Conlog offers a broad range of solutions and services to ensure the heart
of the prepayment project is efficiently and effectively managed.
Ultima vending solution
The Ultima suite of software is designed
Powerful solutions
Our POWERrange of products provide enhanced tools to manage your revenue and data.
The beauty of the portfolio is the ability to pick and mix products, to tailor-make the ideal solution
for each and every customer.
POWERhub
This vending service is an XML interface that seamlessly switches
transactions between multiple merchants and payment
channels. This means that utilities are now able to unleash the
power of thousands of merchants and vendors (third party
vending) to retail electricity on their behalf, no matter their
existing STS vending infrastructure.
POWERsale
Vending software that enables a retailer to sell electricity on
behalf of a utility, using the XML vend platform. This means that
any retailer can quickly and easily become a vendor, with minimal
financial outlay. Utilities managing their own vending
infrastructure can also quickly and easily deploy POWERsale into
their merchant network or billing offices, simply and easily.
POWERcard
Another Conlog first, utilising scratch cards and cellphone
technology to retail electricity, POWERcard requires no capital
outlay and enables utilities to bring vending to the doorstep of
their consumers. Consumers simply purchase a card and redeem
the value with their cellphone.
POWERpin
For utilities wanting to reap the benefit of vending via vouchers,
without the overhead of managing the system, POWERpin is the
solution. Using Conlog’s ever increasing distribution network,
POWERpin allows the utility to turn any vendor with an
accredited paypoint, into an electricity retailer.
POWERpush
Targeted at utilities wanting to provide lifeline electricity, or free
basic electricity, to selected consumers or indigents, this
software automatically distributes a monthly allocation to
registered consumers.
POWERcredit
This credit management tool allows you to efficiently manage
your network of vendors and merchants, from assigning credit
limits, to transaction records and auditing.
POWERcoder
A web based tool for the generation of engineering tokens, such
as key change tokens, clear tamper, clear credit and more. In the
past, this required a complete vending infrastructure – today,
any internet enabled device will suffice.
POWERcomms
This solution ensures your vending is always online and all
components are communicating securely and effectively, with
built-in redundancy and disaster protection.
