SEPTEMBER 2007
24 TEXPRINT DESIGNERS ARE ALL WINNERS AT INDIGO
The Texprint stands at Indigo-Mode, part of Premiere Vision Pluriel in Paris, are a source of
inspiration and outstanding new creativity attracting visitors from over thirty different
countries, and recognized by Philippe Pasquet, the new CEO of Première Vision SA as a
place “to discover and nurture new talents who will play an essential and lively part in all our
professions.”
Texprint’s twenty-four young designers started to sell within ten minutes of the exhibition
opening and their success continued throughout the four day exhibition. Their designs
attracted attention from many of the top names in fashion including Bill Blass, Cerruti, Chloe,
Christian Lacroix, Diane von Furstenberg, Etro, John Galliano, Joseph, Karl Lagerfeld, Louis
Vuitton and Roland Mouret. As well as sales, the designers experienced a year-on-year
increase in the number of job offers and commissions that they received.
On Wednesday 19 th September the British Ambassador to France, Sir Peter Westmacott,
made a special trip to visit the Texprint designers at Indigo, presenting prizes to Texprint’s
six Special Prize winners. He commented on the fact that half of the exhibitors at Indigo
were from the UK and said that in the few months that he had been British Ambassador in
Paris the Embassy had had a number of events to support the textile design industry.
Speaking about Texprint Sir Peter said “We are delighted to be involved with something that
is so much a product of British excellence,” adding that “Texprint, which is financed and
organized by the top names of the British fashion and clothing industries is absolutely vital to
get young talent started.”
Commenting on the success of Texprint at Indigo Julius Schofield, Chairman of Texprint,
said “Our partnership with Indigo goes from strength to strength. It allows us to present the
star textile designers emerging from the UK to the world’s most professional and sought
after textile audience while introducing new creative talent to Indigo.”
