GREATER VANCOUVER<br />

UBC Student Chapter Industry Night:: February 25th, <strong>2009</strong><br />

ITE Greater Vancouver’s UBC Student Chapter held their 7th<br />

annual Industry Night and Student Presentation on February 25th.<br />

This event provides an opportunity for students (undergraduate<br />

and graduate alike) to meet and network with pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in the<br />

transportation industry, as well as allow students to showcase<br />

their knowledge through presentations.<br />

After a mingling session and introductions by various companies,<br />

the student presentation competition was held. The top four<br />

results are:<br />

• 1st Place: Mohamed El Esawey (Graduate)<br />

• 2nd Place: Elham Boozarjomehri (Graduate)<br />

• 3rd Place: Daniel Lai, Louis Cheung, and Linda Qian Lin<br />

(Undergraduate)<br />

• 4th Place: Ivan Chu, Becky Lai, and Vincent Wong<br />

(Undergraduate)<br />

The event was once again a great success, thanks to the Student<br />

Chapter Executive lead by Shewkar Ibrahim (President) and the<br />

Chapter Advisor Dr. Tarek Sayed.<br />

SOUTHERN ALBERTA<br />

The Southern Alberta Section continues to host monthly<br />

luncheons on a variety <strong>of</strong> topics every third Tuesday. Since the<br />

beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>2009</strong>, the topics have included:<br />

• Calgary ParkPlus System: Dale Fraser, Calgary Parking<br />

Authority<br />

• Quarry Park Development: Gillian Lawrence - Director<br />

<strong>of</strong> Planning, Remington Development Corporation<br />

• Dealing with Difficult People: Matthew Page-Hanify,<br />

Dale Carnegie & Associates Inc.<br />

Attached are pictures from the some <strong>of</strong> the luncheons this year.<br />

Future luncheon topics will include a student papers competition,<br />

and a talk on Development <strong>of</strong> a Calgary HOV Network.<br />
