<strong>Victorian</strong> <strong>Bar</strong>’s Indigenous Clerkship Program<br />

From 8 February to 26 February 2010 (inclusive), the <strong>Victorian</strong> <strong>Bar</strong> is conducting a<br />

clerkship program for Indigenous law students. The selected 3 or 4 students will obtain<br />

paid work experience at each of the <strong>Bar</strong>, the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Federal Court<br />

of Australia and, if the clerk is interested, the Judicial College of Victoria. Applications close<br />

Friday 20 November 2009.<br />

Building Dispute Practitioners’ Society Annual General Meeting and Inaugural Debate<br />

– ‘That Mediation has Gone Too Far’<br />

The BDPS AGM will be held on Wednesday 18 November 2009. This is an election year<br />

for the BDPS Committee. Anyone interested in nominating for the BDPS committee should<br />

ensure that their nominations are received by the Secretary by Friday 6 November 2009.<br />

The AGM will be followed by a Debate on the topic ‘That Mediation has gone too far’.<br />

Speaking for the Affirmative will be the Honourable Bill Gillard QC and for the negative we<br />

have George Golvan QC. Will Alstergren has been appointed as mediator for the Debate.<br />

The evening will take place at the RACV Club, Bayside Function Room, Second Floor, 501<br />

Bourke Street, Melbourne, starting at 6.00pm and cost $88 per person if booked by 5pm<br />

on Friday 13 November 2009. Numbers are limited so please RSVP early to ensure a seat.<br />
