Staffing for 2015/16
Now that the resignation date for teachers has passed I am able to share with you
our staffing for next year. Sadly we are saying goodbye to a few of our teachers.
Miss Stephens leaves for Australia this weekend (God Bless and good luck!) and
parents in Y4 will have seen Miss VB over the last couple of weeks. We welcome
her until the end of the summer term in Y4. Mr Cobbold joined us last week in Y5
to cover for Mrs Mascarenhas. Mr Cobbold will take Y5 until the end of the
summer term and he’ll be the new Y5 teacher in 2015/16.
You already know that Mrs Kissinger is retiring at the end of the summer term and
Rome Trip!
On the 1st of June, 6J went on a holiday to Rome. They all had a great time and they hope
that the other Y6 enjoy their upcoming trip too.
On the first day, we went to the Villa Palazzola, checked in and went to Castel Gandolfo
which is the Pope’s summer palace. There were lots of places to get souvenirs (lots of people
bought Italian hats) and we tried our first Italian gelato (ice cream)!
We went to St Peters Square and Basilica the following day. We took lots of photos and
interesting videos, it was so much fun!
On the third day, we went to the American War Cemetery and after we went to the Common
Wealth War Graves. Ms Joyce found one of her relatives. Later, we went to the beach and we
went paddling in the sea it was really warm.
We went to a special monument, the next day, that had the unknown soldier as well as a
museum of military flags, Piazza Novana, the Pantheon and final we went to the Colloseum, we
had a very busy day!
Finally, we went to the Catacombs it was quite chilly but outside was boiling hot. In the
catacombs, there used to be bodies of some of the first Popes and St Cecilia, 6M’s Saint.
Molly, from 6J, exclaimed excitedly, ‘The sights were beautiful and I loved the gelato but now
the ice-cream in England is disappointing.’

Alice in Wonderland
While 6J were in Rome, 6M were making costumes our Alice musical; 6J will be doing
this whilst we are in Rome next week.
The costumes the class have made are: the cards, rabbits’ ears, masks for the animals,
flags with the suits on it and the crowns for the King, Queen and the Knave.
When 6M are in Rome, 6J will be making flamingo puppets and other things for the
play.
Andreas from 6M exclaimed, ”I really enjoyed creating the costumes instead of buying
them because it was more creative and we would all have the same type of costumes.”
Alice Fever!
As we near the end of the school term, the year sixes not only look
forward to starting a new school, but also are excited to complete
their end of year show: Alice the musical!
Whilst lines are being learnt, the teachers are putting together dance
routines for funny scenes. Mrs Millett, director and choreographer,
has impressed all the students with her professional (Yet cheesy)
dance moves which will surely wow the crowd!
Kate, who plays Alice, says ’I felt incredibly proud of myself, but
also a little bit shocked when I saw the amount of lines there was to
learn. Everybody else did brilliantly as well!’
Even though some people did not get the main role, their parts are
very important as well. Andreas, who plays a juror, exclaimed ’I
really enjoy my part. I especially like the singing and getting to act
very important!’
The array of songs sung by the students would not be possible to be
performed without Piotr, the tech man. He spoke excitedly’ I really
like my part because I LOVE computers!’ The students will carry on
practising their play until the final performance to their parents. Until
then we wish 6J and 6M good luck.
