Our aim is for all of our students to achieve their potential

Welcome
to Lampton
School
““The school is extremely well
led. The Senior Team clearly
communicate the message that
the school’s key function is to
enable outstanding outcomes for all
students.”
Ofsted, May 2013
I am proud to be the Headteacher of Lampton School and to
share with you our successes and the pride we have in our pupils.
90% of our pupils achieved 5 or more A*–C passes at GCSE
in 2013 with 73% achieving 5 A*–C including English and
Mathematics. I am proud this year that 45% of our pupils
achieved the English Baccalaureate suite of academic subjects
which will facilitate their access to higher education in the
future. At ‘A’ level 80% of students achieved grades A*-C, with
53% achieving A*, A or B grades.
We understand that the choice you are making is a difficult
one. The ‘best school’ is of course the school which best suits
your son or daughter.
Please ask us questions, visit us during a school day or open
morning, or perhaps make an appointment to meet with me,
or one of my Associate Headteachers.
We will be pleased to see you and to discuss your child’s future.
Statement of Vision and Intent
• Students will be happy and healthy, enthused by the intellectual, social
and physical challenges posed by their experience at school. They will
be independent learners, aware of how to learn and the role of emotions
and dispositions in the learning process, which they draw on to address
challenge and difficulty, as well as success.
• All staff will have the opportunity to develop further as self-directed, reflective
learners, through working collaboratively with others to enhance their
own expertise.
• Through their passion, teachers will enthuse and inspire others to explore
new ideas and opportunities.
• Parents and carers will fulfil their role as true partners, recognising their role
in the student - school - parent/carer partnership to ensure that their child
realises their potential.
• Governors will contribute to school life on a wide scale, acting as a critical
friend to support the school in becoming a nationally and internationally
recognised centre of excellence.

““Students’ achievement is outstanding, particularly in English and mathematics.
By the end of Key Stage 4 students have made more progress than most students
nationally.”
Vision
The Lampton School community values diversity
and seeks to give everyone in the school an equal
chance to learn, work and live, free from the action,
or fear, of racism, discrimination, or prejudice. By our
actions we will work together to develop the potential
of all students academically, socially, culturally and
psychologically and to establish a community that
is just and fair for all people who work at, or visit,
Lampton School.

Lampton shapes the pupils life and their future
Ethos
Lampton is a mixed, 11-18 comprehensive school which sees its rich cultural heritage as perhaps
the most important of its many strengths. It is a truly international school.
We foster a genuine sense of respect for the individual alongside an appreciation of the culture
and beliefs of others.
Teaching and learning
dedicated and dynamic staff.
A strong emphasis on teaching and learning, regular monitoring of standards by senior staff,
and a dedicated and dynamic teaching staff are all strengths of Lampton School.
Teaching School
Lampton has been selected to be one of 150 national ‘teaching
schools’ in the country – a model based on ‘teaching hospitals’. We
host and facilitate a range of programmes to improve the skills of
teachers in the classroom. We also work alongside other schools to
improve outcomes for their students.
““Teaching is outstanding and
enables students to make
exceptional progress”
Ofsted, May 2013

Inclusion
Pupils special needs addressed
The support pupils need may be academic
or social, cultural or emotional. We have put
in place a number of systems to help this
inclusive view of education.
Gifted and talented (G&T)
Programme of extension
and enrichment
We identify our gifted and talented pupils whilst they are in
Year 6 in primary school. The Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator
works closely with Curriculum Leaders in school to provide a programme
of extension and enrichment activities to develop confidence,
breadth of vision and knowledge.

Pastoral system
Equality in each form group
Every pupil is placed in a mixed ability form group from Year 7.
Whenever possible they will stay with their Form Tutor for the five
years from Year 7 to Year 11.
Bullying
We always seek to take appropriate action
At Lampton we always take bullying seriously, whether or not it
happens in school. If a pupil is made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe
through the words or actions of others we will always seek to take
appropriate action.
““Students demonstrate maturity, strong social skills and good
humour in their behaviour in lessons. Students’ outstanding
behaviour continues outside of lessons. They have the maturity to
self- regulate and behave responsibly”
Ofsted, May 2013

School Uniform
School uniform indicates a commitment to the
shared ideals of the school and promotes equality
in a very visible and easily understood way.
Lampton takes uniform very seriously and parents/
carers are asked to consider this commitment to
uniform carefully before making a final decision to
send their son or daughter to the school.
We expect the support of parents/carers in
ensuring high standards of uniform in the school.
Full details of the school’s uniform policy can be
found on the school’s website.
““Staff are fully committed to doing their utmost for
students. One said: ‘This is a fantastic school and
I am proud to be part of it. The students are fantastic
and I feel very well supported by senior leaders.”
Ofsted, May 2013

Lampton School –
helping your child to build learning power.
At Lampton we focus on developing strategies which help your child
to learn how to learn. We call this Building Learning Power (BLP).
This is based on 4 Rs:
RESILIENCE – being ready, willing and able to learn
RESOURCEFULNESS – being ready to learn in different ways
REFELECTIVENESS – being able to plan and reflect on learning
RELATIONSHIPS – being ready to work alone and with others
BLP is developed throughout the curriculum and pupils are rewarded
for developing their learning power through our school praise and
rewards system.
“Lessons include a mix of different activities which
students enjoy and which ensure that they learn rapidly.”
