Blue Knights Fall in Heartbreaking Finale
URBANA, Ohio (November 4, 2009) - The Urbana University men's soccer team saw their 4-game winning streak
come to an end in a season finale heartbreaker on Wednesday night. Taking on a Tiffin team that Urbana had never
beat in 8 previous attempts, the Blue Knights forced overtime but saw the game slip out of their grasp, literally.
On a seemingly harmless shot by Tiffin's Michael O'Neill in overtime, the ball slipped out of keeper John Kolhoff's
hands and trickled into the net for the game-winner. Kolhoff was playing just his 2nd collegiate game in goal, filling
in for the Blue Knights' regular starter Huw Howell-Pryce.
The Dragons opened the scoring with a PK goal in the 19 th minute. The Blue Knights fouled Rhys Cannela in the box,
and Cannela capitalized on the penalty kick, beating Kolhoff for the 1-0 lead.
The game got a little ugly in the second half. As Urbana battled for an equalizer, the referees dished out an
incredible 8 yellow cards and 34 fouls. The Blue Knights finally found the back of the net in the 82 nd minute. Junior
Justin Parmenter got behind the Dragon defense and pounded the ball past the Tiffin keeper to tie the score at 1-1.
Nicodemus George provided the assist, and the stage was set for Tiffin's dramatic win in the 4 th minute of overtime.
With the win, Tiffin improves to 13-4-1, while Urbana finishes at 6-10-1 for the second straight season. [Game
Urbana Edges Lions for 4th Straight Win
CINCINNATI, Ohio (November 2, 2009) - The Urbana University men's soccer team captured their 4 th straight victory
tonight at the College of Mt. St. Joseph. The Blue Knights' game with the Lions was added to the schedule last week
after Urbana's originally scheduled home game with St. Catharine's College was cancelled.
Freshman Nathaniel Byrum (London, Ohio/London HS) notched his first collegiate goal in the 80 th minute for the
game-winner. John Kolhoff collected a shutout in his first career game in goal. Huw Howell-Pryce had played every
minute of the season in goal for the Blue Knights before tonight. Kolhoff had 4 saves in the game.
Urbana improves to 6-9-1 on the season after the 4-game winning streak. The Blue Knights wrap up their season at
home on Wednesday, hosting Tiffin University at 3:00 p.m. [Game Stats]
Soccer Game Times Moved Up 1 Hour
URBANA, Ohio (October 30, 2009) - The Urbana University men's and women's soccer game times on Wednesday,
November 4th, have been moved up 1 hour. The women will now play Tiffin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's
game against Tiffin at approximately 3:00 p.m. It is the final game of the season for both clubs.
UU Holds Off Storm for 3rd Straight Win

URBANA, Ohio (October 25, 2009) - Using two quick goals, the Urbana University men's soccer team won their third
straight contest this afternoon against the Lake Erie College Storm. The Storm threatened late in the second half,
but the Blue Knights held them off for the 2-1 victory.
Urbana sophomore Hayden Brown (pictured) got the scoring started with a header in the 9 th minute. Brown used
his head to direct the ball into the net after a long pass from junior Justin Parmenter and deflection from sophomore
Robbie Frank. The goal was Brown's first of the season.
Less than 2 minutes later, Parmenter scored his 4 th goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Jordan Herrera.
Herrera took a big hit from a Storm defender but still managed to send the ball ahead to Parmenter who banked the
ball off the right post into the back of the net. Parmenter's insurance goal proved to be the game-winner as the
Storm scored late. It is Parmenter's 2 nd game-winner of the season.
The Blue Knights (5-9-1) finish the season next week with a road game at Mt. St. Joseph's College on Monday
followed by a home finale on Wednesday against Tiffin University. [Game Stats]
Herrera's Heroics are Best of the Week
URBANA, Ohio (October 23, 2009) - Urbana University soccer player Jordan Herrera (Findlay, Ohio/Cory-Rawson
HS) had a week to remember. The sophomore forward played a major role in the Blue Knights' back-to-back wins,
earning Blue Knight Student-Athlete of the Week honors in a very competitive week.
First, Herrera helped his Blue Knights overcome a 2-0 deficit last Friday night against Saginaw Valley State. Trailing
by 2 in the 12th minute, Herrera's assist on a Robbie Frank goal cut the Cardinals' lead in half. Herrera tied the
game in the 66th minute, heading in a goal off a Justin Parmenter corner kick. Unwilling to settle for the tie, Herrera
stayed aggressive. With just over 3 minutes remaining in the contest, Herrera dribbled past the Cardinals' defense
and had just the keeper to beat. Rather than take a difficult shot with the keeper bearing down on him, Herrera
passed the ball to the backside of the box to teammate Eric Warrick. Warrick easily deposited the ball in the back of
the open net for the game-winner. Herrera scored or assisted on all 3 Urbana goals in the win, but he wasn't done
yet.
On Wednesday night, the Blue Knights traveled to Columbus to take on their rivals from Ohio Dominican. Urbana
entered the contest with an 0-7-1 record against the pesky Panthers, but their luck was about to change. In the
14th minute, the Parmenter-Herrera combo struck again. Parmenter sent a crossing pass into the box, where once
again, Herrera was there to head it in for the early 1-0 lead. The Panthers fought and clawed all night to try to find
the equalizer, but the Blue Knights' defense stood pat over the final 76 minutes. Herrera's goal proved to be the
game-winner, the first of his career. Herrera currently leads the team in goals (5), points (12), shots (31), and shots
on goal (14). The Blue Knights wrap up their 2009 season with 3 more matches over the next week and a half.
Herrera's Header Helps UU Past Panthers
COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 21, 2009) - For the second straight game, sophomore Jordan Herrera was heavily
involved in the outcome of a Blue Knights soccer game. Herrera's 14th-minute header held up in Urbana's 1-0
victory over rival Ohio Dominican University tonight at Panther Field. The Blue Knights have now won 2 straight, and
Herrera played the hero once again with his team-leading 5th goal of the season.

Playing under the lights, Herrera's teammate Justin Parmenter sent an early cross into the box. Herrera beat the
Panther defense to the ball and headed it in for an early 1-0 lead. From there, the Blue Knights defense went to
work. The Panthers fired 17 shots in goalkeeper Huw Howell-Pryce's direction. Of the 5 shots on goal, Howell-Pryce
stopped everyone of them to record his 2nd shutout of the season. Urbana also had 5 shots on goal for the night.
Amazingly, the team fired just 2 shots in the first 45 minutes, but they made the most of their limited opportunities
and relied on the team defense and Howell-Pryce to stonewall the Panthers. Urbana improves to 4-9-1 on the year,
while ODU drops to 6-6-2.
The Blue Knights' return home to host the Storm from Lake Erie College on Sunday afternoon. The men's team
will kickoff at 3:00 pm, after the women's game which begins at 1:00 pm. [Game Stats]
Home Game vs. St. Catharine's is Cancelled
October 28th has been cancelled. In its place, the Blue Knights have scheduled a game at Mt. St. Joseph's College
UU Alumni Enjoy Victorious Homecoming
URBANA, Ohio (October 17, 2009) - On Homecoming Saturday, the Urbana University JV Soccer team took on a
talented team of alumni for the annual Alumni Game. For the second year in a row, the alumni posted a convincing
victory, winning 7-3. The game was played in front of a crowd of friends and family and about 25 former Blue
Knights participated in the annual event.
"As usual, the game was played in good spirits and the weekend was enjoyable for all, especially for our former
soccer players back on campus," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Nick Roberts. Below is a picture of the teams and
coaches following the Alumni's win.
Herrera Shines as UU Overcomes 2-0 Deficit
URBANA, Ohio (October 16, 2009) - On a frigid afternoon, the Urbana University men's soccer ended a 3-game losing
streak with 3 unanswered goals. After falling behind 2-0 in the first 9:03, the Blue Knights stormed back to beat the
Cardinals from Saginaw Valley State University.
The teams began the game with a flurry of action, scoring 3 goals in the first 12 minutes. The Cardinals collected
their 2 nd goal of the game in the 10th minute, but the Blue Knights answered exactly 2 minutes later with a goal by
sophomore co-captain Robbie Frank. Jordan Herrera (pictured above) and Nick Kadoves provided the assists, and
the Urbana comeback had begun.
In the chilly October wind, Urbana's offense provided the heat in the second half. Herrera tied the game on one of
his team-high 4 shots in the 66 th minute. His goal came on a header off a corner kick from Justin Parmenter, but
Herrera saved his best for last.

In the 87 th minute, Herrera received a long pass from Frank. He dribbled past the defense and into the box. Herrera
had a good look at the goal, but he passed on his scoring opportunity to provide a better one for his teammate Eric
Warrick. Warrick had no trouble beating the keeper thanks to Herrera's pinpoint pass. The goal was Warrick's first
of the season, and it proved to be the game-winner as Urbana held on for the 3-2 victory. Herrera scored or assisted
on all 3 Blue Knight goals.
The Blue Knights (3-9-1) hit the road on Wednesday after 5 straight home games. The team travels to Columbus to
take on their rivals from Ohio Dominican University under the lights. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. [Game
URBANA, Ohio (October 13, 2009) - Facing their third straight nationally-ranked opponent at home, the Urbana
University men's soccer team fell 4-0 to #25 Ashland University this afternoon.
Ashland struck first in the 5 th minute on the games' first corner kick. The Eagles' Ross Ashley headed in a loose ball
for the early 1-0 lead. Nine minute later, Ashley scored his second of the day after his shot ricocheted into the net
off the left post. The Eagles took a 2-goal advantage into the second half. In the 73 rd minute, another ricochet led
to an Eagle goal. This time, an Ashland shot clipped a Blue Knight defender and deflected past keeper Huw Howell-
Pryce. The Eagles' 3rd goal ended Urbana's hope for a comeback. Ashland (7-2-4) tacked on the 4 th goal of the day
on a penalty kick with 7 seconds remaining in the game.
The Blue Knights (2-9-1) host their 5 th straight home game on Friday when they welcome the Cardinals from
Saginaw Valley State University. Game time is 4:00 p.m. [Game Stats]
4th Ranked Falcons Fly Past Blue Knights
URBANA, Ohio (October 10, 2009) - The Urbana University men's soccer team fell to the 4 th ranked Falcons from
Notre Dame College at home on Saturday afternoon. Notre Dame scored twice in a span of 2 minutes late in the first
half and held on for the 5-0 victory.
Urbana had an opportunity to get on the board first in the game's 29 th minute, but Hayden Brown's shot hit the
crossbar. The Falcons' Luke Holmes found the back of the net 4 minutes later for the 1-0 lead. Notre Dame (9-1-1)
showed how they have become a national powerhouse with an aggressive attack for the remainder of the match.
The Blue Knights (2-8-1) are back at home on Tuesday to host Ashland University. Game time is 4:00 p.m. [Game
Blue Knights Fall Short Against #23 MVNU
URBANA, Ohio (October 3, 2009) - On a blustery day on the campus of Urbana University, the Blue Knights men's
soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the 23 rd ranked Cougars from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. The Cougars
used 2 first half Chris Mast goals to build an early lead and the visitors never looked back. The Cougar defense
tightened in the second half, and Mast earned a hat trick with his 3 rd goal of the day in the game's 81 st minute.

Urbana's best chance for a score came on back-to-back shots by Hayden Brown. A Cougar defender stopped the
first and the keeper regrouped to save the second.
The Blue Knights (2-7-1) play again at home next Saturday afternoon. They host the nationally-ranked Falcons from
Notre Dame College at 2:00 p.m. [Game Stats]
Parmenter's Performance is Week's Best
URBANA, Ohio (October 2, 2009) - Urbana University men's soccer player Justin Parmenter (Grove City,
Ohio/Grove City HS) has been named the Blue Knight Student-Athlete of the Week. Parmenter provided both Blue
Knight goals in Urbana's 2-2 tie with the University of Findlay on Wednesday night. His first goal came with 1:06
remaining in the first half. Parmenter got behind the Oiler defense, thanks to a pinpoint pass from teammate Adam
Craddick, and beat the keeper to erase a 1-0 deficit. Parmenter's second goal gave the Blue Knights a 2-1 lead in
the 75th minute. The junior forward corralled a pass from sophomore Robbie Frank, and from about 25 yards out,
Parmenter sent a diving shot over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.
Parmenter has been on a roll lately. He fired a game-high 6 shots against Findlay, including 3 shots on goal. He
nearly pulled off a hat trick in the 78th minute, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar. After missing the first 2
games of the season, Parmenter has played his way into the starting lineup. He leads the team in points (7), and he
is tied for the team lead in goals (3) with teammate Jordan Herrera. This week, he also had an assist against
Otterbein. On September 15th, Parmenter netted his first career goal, a game-winner at Marian.
Parmenter and the Blue Knights look for continued improvement tomorrow as they host #23 Mt. Vernon Nazarene
University. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Blue Knights Settle for Tie Against Oilers
URBANA, Ohio (September 30, 2009) - On a brisk, sunny afternoon the Urbana University men's soccer team battled
to an exciting 2-2 tie with the University of Findlay. Urbana tied the game at 1 goal apiece with 1:06 left in the first
half, and Findlay pulled off the same feat with 1:12 remaining in the second half.
The match opened with 35 back-and-forth minutes before the Oilers struck first. Findlay's Mate Farkas deposited the
ball in the back of the net after assists from teammates Kyle Pahren and Brennan Williams.
With just over a minute remaining in the first half, Urbana had an answer. Senior midfielder Adam Craddick sent a
pass to a streaking Justin Parmenter. The junior got behind the Oiler defense and beat the keeper in the left corner
to tie the score at 1.
The second half started much like the first. The two evenly matched teams battled for field position and scoring
opportunities. Urbana's Joey Perkins sent a pinpoint pass ahead to co-captain Robbie Frank. Frank's header to the
right post was deflected by a diving Findlay keeper. The ball ricocheted off his hand and hit the post before being
cleared by the defense.
Urbana just missed on that scoring opportunity, but they wouldn't miss on their next. This time, Frank sent a pass to
Parmenter in the middle of the field. Parmenter corralled the pass from 30 yards out and collected his second goal of
the day on a bloop shot over the keeper's head.

The Blue Knights appeared to be on their way to their third win of the season, but with 1:12 left on the clock, Findlay
scored the equalizer. Corey Keister beat Urbana keeper Huw Howell-Pryce in the top right corner to send the game
to overtime.
Team defense shined in the extra frames. Urbana mounted a furious charge in front of the home crowd, but Findlay
keeper Matthew Brooks made more a couple game-saving diving stops. Justin Parmenter (pictured) nearly pulled
off a hat trick late in the contest, but his shot sailed over the keeper's head. Findlay's best opportunity came on a
shot in the second overtime that hit the crossbar before the Blue Knights' defense could clear the ball. Urbana out
shot Findlay 5-3 in the extra periods, but the Blue Knights had to settle for a 2-2 tie.
The Blue Knights (2-6-1) are home for their next four contests. The team hosts the nationally ranked Cougars from
Mt. Vernon Nazarene this Saturday, October 3 rd at 2:00 p.m. [Game Stats]
Urbana Upended at Otterbein
WESTERVILLE, Ohio (September 26, 2009) - For the second straight game, the Blue Knights men's soccer team fell
to the Cardinals. This time, it was the Otterbein Cardinals who got the best of Urbana in a 6-2 win on Saturday
afternoon.
Otterbein raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first half. Urbana answered early in the second half on a goal by junior Nick
Kadoves. Kadoves headed in Urbana's first goal of the game in the 49th minute off a crossing pass from fellow
junior Justin Parmenter. Otterbein's Matt Beckett ended any hopes of a comeback with his 4th goal of the day in the
70th minute. The Cardinals would tack on another goal before Urbana's Jordan Herrera ended the scoring with a
header off a pass from Hayden Brown in the 81st minute.
With the loss, the Blue Knights fall to 2-6 on the season. The team returns home for a match on Wednesday against
the University of Findlay. Game time is at 4:00 p.m. [Game Stats]
Cardinals Clip Blue Knights
URBANA, Ohio (September 20, 2009) - The Urbana University men's soccer team took a tough loss at home today in
a light rain against the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals. The Blue Knights appeared to be in control after a
scoreless first half, but a questionable call changed everything in the 66 th minute of WJU's 2-1 win.
Controversy erupted when the referee granted a penalty kick to the Cardinals after it appeared that the player
slipped on his own accord in the box. On the penalty kick, Blue Knight keeper Huw Howell-Pryce got a hand on the
shot, but it still deflected into the back of the net for the day's first goal.
Less than 3 minutes later, WJU's Paul Silverstrone struck again, this time without controversy. Silverstrone fired a
rocket of a shot over the keeper's head from nearly 35 yards out. The goal proved to be the game-winner as an
inspired Urbana squad mounted a furious rally.
With just over 2 minutes remaining, the Blue Knights' effort paid off with a Nick Kadoves' (pictured) goal to cut the
deficit in half. Kadoves used assists from defender Nicodemus George and midfielder Cody Meier to collect his first
goal of the season, but it would be too little, too late. The Cardinals milked the final 2 minutes off the clock and left
with their 5 th victory of the year. Urbana dropped to 2-5 on the young season.

The Blue Knights will try to get back in the win column next Saturday at Otterbein College. The teams kick off at
2:00 p.m. [Game Stats]
ERIE, Pennsylvania (August 28, 2009) - Playing his first collegiate varsity soccer game, sophomore John Kolhoff
(Toledo, Ohio/Start HS) made a dramatic first impression. With the game knotted at 1 goal apiece, Kolhoff (pictured)
assist on sophomore Jordan Herrera's (Findlay, Ohio/Cory-Rawson HS) insurance goal in the 87 th minute to secure
Urbana's season-opening 3-1 win.
It's the first time Urbana has won on the road to open a season since 2006. The Blue Knights defeated Tri-State
