Religious education news<br />
Registration for Religious Education will be held<br />
following each weekend Mass on September 28 &<br />
29 in the Parish Centre or by dropping in the Parish<br />
Office during regular hours.<br />
Gatherings will once again begin the week following Thanksgiving<br />
starting on Sunday October 20 & Monday October 21. Remember<br />
to have your child use the east side door when dropping off and<br />
picking up.<br />
Confirmation gatherings will begin on Sunday October 20 at 6:30<br />
pm in the Parish Centre.<br />
Fees will remain the same at $10/child, $20/family and $25 for<br />
Confirmation Candidates.<br />
We are in need of Catechists for kindergarten, grade 1, grade 7,<br />
and Confirmation. (found one for grade 8) Lesson plans and<br />
resources are provided. Without Catechists these children will not<br />
have Catechism. So, please call the RE office at 778-5153 if you can<br />
help.<br />
Cwl meeting news update<br />
Dues for 2014: We will begin collecting dues for 2014 in October.<br />
Dues are $20.<br />
October 1 – 31: White Ribbon Campaign: There is NO signature<br />
campaign. Instead, CWL members are asked to wear a white ribbon<br />
for the month of October starting October 1st.<br />
October 19th: Santa Maria are holding their Craft, White Elephant,<br />
Bake Sale. We have booked 2 tables and CWL members are asked<br />
to bring items for our tables.<br />
October 21 – 23: A CWL Retreat will be held at the Villa Madonna<br />
Retreat House at a cost of $168 that includes 2 nights’ accommodation<br />

Diocesan News<br />
The Diocese of Saint John offers a Workshop and Gathering for<br />
ALL Religious Education Co-Ordinators and Catechists to help<br />
prepare for the upcoming 2013/2014 Year of educating and<br />
sharing catechesis with the children in the Diocese. Miramichi:<br />

This past year was marked by several pastoral projects initiated<br />
by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), including<br />
the National Week for Life and Family, which is part of the<br />
pastoral plan for life and family. The CCCB also published a number<br />
of educational materials and resources to support the work<br />
of the dioceses in teaching the faith. These include the CCCB<br />
document on the environment (Building a New Culture: Central<br />
Themes in Recent Church Teaching on the Environment) and the<br />
resource for helping clergy and laity to use the Post-Synodal<br />
Apostolic Exhortation on the Word of God (Verbum Domini).<br />
The CCCB also helped to coordinate the participation of over<br />
1,000 young Canadians at World Youth Day which took place in<br />
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during July 2013. This celebration involved<br />
Pope Francis’ first apostolic visit outside Italy.<br />
