Services (Period 1) • Example: A doctor signs a maintenance contract on January 1, 2010 for services to be provided during the calendar year. The full amount of the contract is paid January 31, 2010. • Answer: Because the doctor offers exempt services, he will need to self-assess the <strong>Ontario</strong> portion of the HST on ½ of the contract (fees relating to the July 1 to December 31, 2010). The amount self-assessed will need to be remitted to the CRA on form GST 489. 23
