Proven Leadership
Veterans were put into leadership roles at early stages of their time in the service.
The real world, front line and often battle proven leadership developed in the
military is well beyond that of a similar person in a civilian job.

Team Players
From the early stages initial training, all members of the military are used to
working in a team environment. Some teams are small, others very large, but all
members of the team know that their individual efforts are to support the team
in reaching the larger objective.

Work Ethic
The work ethic of veterans is unparalleled due to the need to depend on each other
for their lives. Every military person knows that their life and success depends on
their team mates. As a result, the work ethic of veterans is vastly stronger than the
normal civilian work ethic. People who have served in the military are used to
working long hours in non-traditional environments.

Military Grades and Rank
‣ Grade structure is common across the services
‣ Rank equivalent to those grades may differ from service to service
‣ A Navy Captain is an O-6; however, a captain in the Army is an O-3
Service Rank Grade
Army Major O-4
Navy
Lieutenant
Commander
O-4
Air Force Major O-4
Marine Corps Major O-4

Military Grades and Rank
Letter will be O, W, or E Numbers will be 1 - 10
O = Officer
W = Warrant Officer
E = Enlisted
+
1 = most junior
10 = most senior
‣ The Navy is again the exception their enlisted rank is their skill identifier and then
their grade which is the opposite:
Example: CS1 – Culinary Specialist Petty Officer 1 st Class (E-6) – the highest enlisted
rank before Chief Petty Officer which is an E-7.
