Neapolitan-glazed tile floor, painted and designed by world-class craftsmen in Naples, Italy.<br />
In the 17th or 18th century, glazed tiles imitating the<br />
composition of marble floors or carpets were introduced.<br />
Each floor, like this Neapolitan ceramic floor, would<br />
have been manufactured individually for a specific room,<br />
typically limited to aristocratic residences.
