I am proud to introduce the first issue of Natura. Natura
is the latin name for nature, and as the name indicates
the main subject of this magazine is nature. I hope it will
appeal to a broad and diverse audience having that in common
to be concerned and interested in nature. The first issue
is an example of what kind of subjects we will handle, and
because of circumstances all the articles are about the nature
in Britain and photography. Further issues will concentrate
on similar subjects, but with emphasis on the nature of
Iceland, and will probably be written in Icelandic.
It is my goal with Natura to bring the nature to our audience,
introduce the nature in the neighbourhood, make our
audience want to explore their environment, and connect
science and the public with articles about scientific issues. I
plan to spend some time with both scientists and amateurs,
look of ways to document what can be seen and present
technical articles about photography.
In this issue we concentrate on animals in captivity, explore
urban wildlife and wonder about its existence and influence
on humans. We get to know the owls, their biology and
behaviour, and we wonder how to keep tarantulas as pets.
The technical focus in this issue is on photography, and
how photographers work. We take a look at an exhibition,
the technique in focus stacking, and positive and negative
aspects regarding digital and analogue photography.
We hope that there is something for everyone in here, so
please enjoy this first issue of Natura.
