For a Workshop: “Young Minds Require
Creative Discipline”
Thursday, March 6, 7:30pm at Cubberley Theatre
Featuring Sylvia Ford
Lattes, coffee and dessert will be served at 6:30pm.
Sylvia Ford M.A. is an Early Childhood Consultant who has been
working with children and families in the San Francisco Bay Area for
over 25 years. This discussion will highlight some aspects of early
brain development that help us understand why young children can’t
always do the right thing or control their behavior. Ms. Ford will
include information that can help adults be more creative and
effective with limit-setting, along with strategies and techniques that
can promote positive self-guided behavior in children from infancy to
age eight.
Friends of PreSchool Family was formed to support and raise funds
for PreSchool Family’s programs and activities, increase awareness of
PreSchool Family as a parent education-based preschool program,
and provide access to the general community as a parent resource.

Orchestra’s ‘Sinfonia’ Concert
PACO’s Sinfonia will perform their second
concert of the 2007-08 season on Saturday, March
8, with a program including classical and romantic music. The
concert features guest conductor Dawn Harms, a well-known
violinist and teacher who performs with the San Francisco Opera
Orchestra and the New Century Chamber Orchestra. The program
includes Mendelssohn's early string symphony #10 in B minor,
William Grant Still's jazzy "Dances of Panama", Elgar's elegant
"Serenade for Strings", and chamber music performed by Sinfonia
ensembles. Tickets are $10/general, $5/senior and student. For more

The “Somewhat True Tale of Robin
Hood”

If you think you know the story of Robin Hood, think again!
The legend of Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men gets
an unforgettable and irreverent facelift in the Terman Middle
School Drama Department production of The Somewhat
True Tale of Robin Hood. 3 performances in the Terman
Middle School cafetorium on Thursday, March 13th and
Friday, March 14th at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 15th at
2:30pm. Running time is approximately 1 hour and 40
minutes (including intermission) and the show is has
something for everyone - perfect for all ages.
Tickets may be purchased by filling out a ticket order form
(available in the Terman Middle School front office) and
dropping it off in the "Robin Hood" box right by the order
forms. Please make sure you include your name, the date of
performance you want, and the number of adult / student
tickets you want. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for
students under 16. Checks should be made out to: “Terman
Middle School," with "Robin Hood play tickets" in the
memo. Tickets may also be purchased at the door - if it is
not sold out!

Make it a night of baseball fun with mom and dad at Kepler's and welcome acclaimed sportswriter Mike Lupica. For over 30 years
he has been working in the field of sports journalism and has achieved much praise for his experience and insider's knowledge of
the sporting world. Recently, his novels for children and young adults have earned him even more admiration, as kids the world over
are discovering the joy of reading through his books. It will be just like a night at the ball park with popcorn and root beer for all.
Come early to watch a classic baseball game on the big screen.

Third Concert

The Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra
will perform the third concert of its
Sports Announcements
season on Sunday, March 2 at 3pm, at
Dinkelspiel Auditorium on the
Stanford University campus. Program
featuring music from Great Britain,
and popular local violin virtuoso
Robin Sharp. George Frederic Handel
was born in Germany but found fame
and fortune in 18th century London;
the program will begin with one of
his delightful Concerto Grossi.
Vaughan-Williams’ seldom heard
Concerto Accademico for Violin and
String Orchestra will be performed
by Ms. Sharp. The program will
conclude with Edward Elgar's
beloved Serenade for String
Orchestra. The program will also
feature selected movements from
masterpieces of the chamber music
repertoire, performed by ensembles
comprised of PACO members. For

their expertise in specific areas of parenting.
Gloria Moskowitz-Sweet, LCSW,
Coordinator, Parents Place Express, will be
speaking at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1095
Cloud Ave., Menlo Park, on Thursday, March
13, 7-9pm, topic: “Creating Resilient
Children”. Topic summary: Something about
raising children has changed in today's fastpaced
world. Many parenting experts feel
that parents are under continuous pressure
to plan, enrich, and do this important
parenting job precisely the right way. The
pressure and stress on today's families can
be overwhelming. This workshop will focus
on the challenges of raising children in
today's "hurry up" world and will discuss
strategies for raising resilient and healthy
children, and how parents can establish
healthy family schedules and find the right
