Canad!l Council has approved a grant<br />
for the Amati Quartet to commission<br />
, Juno award winning Canadian composer,<br />
. Andrew MacDonald, to write a new<br />
' string quartet. The premier performance<br />
• will be on Feb. 19th 1999 at 8pm at<br />
· Thornhill Presbyterian Church.<br />
A second performance is scheduled in<br />
' Mississauga on May 9th 1999, at Eden<br />
United Church, 2pm, the 3rd concert of<br />
the series "All in the Family". This<br />
, series begins on Oct 18th at 2P,m and<br />
• cont;inues on Jan. 24, 1999. It will<br />
feature Suzanne Shulman, flute, Erica<br />
Goodman, harp, and pianist Judith<br />
Kenedi-Peleg. Young family artists<br />
include Ben Miller, boy soprano and<br />
.Belinda McGuire modern dancer.<br />
The Amati Quartet (Jospeh Peleg, Peggy<br />
McGuire, Mark Childs, David Miller),<br />
has been performing since 1985, and in<br />
1997 was Quartet-in Residence at the<br />
Shaw Festival, where they recorded the<br />
world premier of Christopher Donison's<br />
Rashomon Quartet. ·<br />
