RX SPORT LENSES BASE 6 – 8
Top visual performance with full eye protection
All lenses from the Optiswiss RX Sport Lenses range are tuned to the needs of various types of
sports. They offer high seeing comfort, optimal performance as well as perfect security and
protection.

Physiology
The Optiswiss RX Sport Lenses range is in tune with the needs of various types of sports and ensures the
best visual capacity. Balls, barriers, players or opponents are seen in time. In addition, lenses which are in
tune with our individual visual performance guarantee safety and protection from external environmental
influences, such as UV radiation, glare, draughts and external impacts and hits.
Optiswiss guarantees high grade, customized lenses for sportive activities with the best quality
from Swiss production.
Keep the right perspective
A curved sports eyewear frame presents particular demands in the way the corrective lens curvature is
calculated. In comparison to conventional prescription spectacles, the sports eyewear lenses are angled
differently in front of the eyes. While conventional prescription spectacles have virtually coincident right and
left ocular planes, in frames with strongly tilted lenses the planes are appreciably angled towards each other
(typically by 15° - 25°).
Conventional correction spectacles
Not in accordance with centre of rotation requirement
High horizontal inclination causes optical errors: this includes the oblique astigmatism, spherical errors,
prismatic errors or also errors in centring.

Horizontal inclination of frames can cause optical errors
The optical side effects appearing in the imaging beam path through the spectacle lens are best compensated
through a special lens calculation. A spectacle wearer looking straight ahead into the distance perceives the
same dioptric effect as during an eye examination. Furthermore, he/she benefits from an unlimited field of
vision.
Oblique astigmatism
Undesired astigmatism occurs as a side effect when gazing straight
ahead into the distance (the main direction of sight) and is attributable
to the oblique passage of light rays through the spectacle lens.
Twisted cylinder axis
For prescriptions with astigmatism correction, the projection of the
cylinder axis of the tilted lens must be viewed in the plane perpendicular to
the main direction of sight (tabo-plane). With tilted angle prescriptions,
this projection leads to a twisting of the cylinder axis. However, if the
cylinder axes lie at exactly 0° or 90°, no twisting occurs.
Prismatic effects
Prismatic distortion may be produced in the same way when looking
straight ahead into the distance (main direction of sight), because
the main ray is out of line with the optical axis of the spectacle lens.
Centring
Tilting also affects how the lens is centred on the pupil axis. The vertex
of the inner surface of the lens shifts nasally, while the point of reference
of the outer surface shifts temporally.

• The frame must be vertical to the pattern.
• The bridge must lie parallel to the horizontal line.
• The nasal frame groove must be brought into line with the vertex of the pattern.
• The value must be read off on the temporal frame groove.
Order edged RX sport lenses through the osshop
In our osshop you will find a continuously growing assortment of brand name frames from well known
producers. Before these frames were integrated in our system, we have carried out numerous feasibility and
plausibility checks. All suggested lens types can thus be ordered without hesitation.
With the determination of the form, only the centering data like PD and height must be entered. The entry
of additional parameters like form data, desired basis or optimized thickness is no longer necessary as
everything is already stored in the system.
If the order is completed, also here the lens value will be converted using the special sport lens calculation.
After a few days, you will receive the already edged lenses.
High tech cutting machines for precision work
Thanks to a highly modern, computer controlled production facility, it is possible for Optiswiss to glaze
professionally sport frames with individual corrections. No matter if lenses with bevels, indentations or lenses
to “clip on” in the frame. Save money and time. If you select the lenses for a frame model which we have
stored in our system, we can send you lenses already cut which you only need to place in the frame.

Water sports
UV protection and contrast increase
In order to be able to optimally estimate
weather conditions and to avoid undesirable
reflections on the water surface, polarising
lenses are recommended.
Visual requirements
• UV- & glare protection
• High light absorption
• Increase of contrasts
• Blue Blocker
• Polarizing
Good vision in high altitudes
A suitable filter should be selected for high visual
comfort so that peripheral vision is not impaired at high
altitudes. A good UV filter is indispensable due to the
radiation intensity in the mountains.
Ball sports
Motion perception and depth vision
Ball sports such as golf, tennis, squash, volleyball
or football promote fast reactions and foresighted
action. Good spatial and peripheral vision are
important for estimating movements and speeds.
Visual requirements
• UV & glare protection
• Break resistance
• Polarizing
• Contrast enhancement
Contrast enhancing filters and spare lenses for
various weather and light conditions are also
recommended.
