PRINCIPAL'S NOTE<br />
The month of May is closing and activities at the<br />
school in full swing! Remember, despite the warm<br />
weather we do have a dress code. Also, it is the<br />
time of year we should remember sun screen,<br />
especially on school outings. The nice weather<br />
also inspires students with a lot of energy. We<br />
want to remind them to keep their energy positive<br />
and at all times keep their hands and feet to<br />
themselves to be safe and avoid<br />
misunderstandings. Thanks!<br />

Raccoons (Strong Start)<br />
A reminder to parents of children from 0-5 years<br />
old! “Raccoons” Strong Start is a program offered<br />
free to parents at <strong>Raft</strong> <strong>River</strong> <strong>Elementary</strong> School<br />
daily from 8:45am to 11:45am. This program<br />
helps teach children using play based education.<br />
This is not a daycare so parents are expected to<br />
attend with their children and encouraged to<br />
participate in the activities. Learn along with your<br />
child and help them get a head start before they<br />
begin formal school!<br />
Track & Field<br />
We had a very successful Track Meet on<br />
Wednesday! A big thank you go to the staff and<br />
students of Clearwater Secondary School for<br />
organizing the concession and events! The<br />
following students placed in the top three in their<br />
events and will be invited to represent <strong>Raft</strong> <strong>River</strong><br />
at the Zones in Kamloops on May 28! Go team go!<br />

Salmon<br />
Most of our Coho will go into the river this week..<br />
We will keep a few in the tank in the library so we<br />
can continue to watch them grow!<br />
Book Fair<br />
Thank you to everyone who supported our annual<br />
spring book fair. A special thanks to those students<br />
who helped with set up, clean up and selling each<br />
morning, noon and afternoon!<br />
Library<br />
The last day for library book sign out will be on<br />
Friday June 4 th . This allows our inventory to be<br />
done. If you owe money for lost or damaged<br />
books, please bring your money to the library<br />
before the end of June.<br />
Heritage Fair<br />
This year's district fair was held in Kamloops on<br />
May 13 th and 14 th and our school was well<br />
represented by 21 students. Congratulations to:<br />

Lunch Supervisors<br />
We are looking for lunch supervisor volunteers<br />
beginning next September 2010, If you enjoy<br />
working with children and would like to contribute<br />
to the supervisor team at lunch, please let us<br />
know! This is a great opportunity to help out at the<br />
school. This position also comes with a small<br />
incentive ($10 per day) to help out.
