<strong>Aprilia</strong> Racing offers those who like to take part to desert<br />
rallies the opportunity to buy the 450cc engine “ready to<br />
race” and assembled by the <strong>Aprilia</strong> Racing department<br />
technicians.<br />
The engine is characterized by a long list of dedicated<br />
parts, developed by <strong>Aprilia</strong> Racing to improve performance<br />
and make it suitable for the extremely intense use in<br />
long African rallies, characterized by extremely hot air<br />
temperatures and never-ending straights ridden at full gas.<br />

The modifications allow longest maintenance routines, which is<br />
mandatory when races are thousands kilometres long.<br />
The new clutch kit with lightweight hub and drum, together with<br />
the new disk kit, gives a better feeling and it is more efficient in the<br />
worst conditions.<br />
The new distribution kit (plates, collets, pads) and the new<br />
conrods screws, gives a major reliability and allow to increase the<br />
rpm limiter from 12.500 to 13.200.<br />
A different blow-by circuit gives a better lubrication of the rear<br />
cylinder and a major affordability, while the new, heavier, flywheel<br />
gives a smoother throttle response to improve traction and<br />
rideability on hard surfaces.<br />
To complete the kit, aluminium oil tank caps with magnetic inserts<br />
to keep metal impurities far from the crankshaft.<br />
A tuning up service is also available on the standard<br />
RXV 450 engine. By sending a standard engine to <strong>Aprilia</strong><br />
Racing it will be updated and modified by <strong>Aprilia</strong> Racing<br />
technicians to make it suitable for the hardest desert races.<br />

Nothing is missing in the vehicle kit to transform a<br />
standard RXV 450 into a “desert race ready” bike.<br />
<strong>Aprilia</strong> Racing technicians have done everything necessary<br />
to ensure the very best performance.<br />
Starting from the new frame, reinforced and modified to house<br />
4 aluminium hand-made fuel tanks, with internal anti-rinse<br />
bulkheads and fast joints, where new, larger and more resistant<br />
billet aluminium footrests and new risers are installed.<br />
The new front frame houses the completely modified wiring to<br />
match dedicated push buttons and dashboard (not included),<br />
2 polyellipsoidal headlights and an oil radiator, while the new rear<br />
frame houses an aluminium tools store.<br />
Another tool store and a 1,5 litres water tank are housed in the<br />
new engine guard, made of carbon fibre as the whole fairing kit<br />
and fenders.<br />
The new rims have tangential reinforced spokes and reinforced<br />
nipples and a new rear anti-jerk, to face any kind of stress. A<br />
rotational steering damper gives the best vehicle control even in<br />
the worst situations, thanks also to the new carbon fibre saddle.<br />
Moreover, a new titanium 2into1into2 complete exhaust is<br />
supplied, together with new silicone rubber radiator pipes.<br />
