Counseling Process for admission to M.Sc. General/Financial Economics of CUTN-
MSE
a) Overview of the programmes to the students and brief Questions and answers
session.
b) Verification of the following documents will take place. Applicants should bring
the original documents and a copy each.
i) Date of Birth (any one of the birth certificate, voter id, passport, school
leaving certificate)

CUCET 2012 hall ticket
Call for counseling letter
v) Marksheet – Qualifying Examination (Undergraduate), HSC

If employed, no objection certificate from the Employer
Any other relevant certificate (for example physically challenged
North-east residence etc.)
c) Admission will be provisional, subject to approval by the Central University of
Tamil Nadu and completion of all formalities and submission of all documents.
d) Payment of the required fee of Rs. 5000.
e) Submission of application for hostel accommodation (if needed)

Information to all the applicants for M.Sc. General Economics and M.Sc. Financial
Economics (CUTN-MSE)
a) Date of counseling for the first list: July 6 th , 2012, starting at 9:30 am at MSE
campus. If seats are available after the first round of counseling, a second list will
be prepared.
b) Candidates will be selected based on their rank within each category (General
Economics/Financial Economics) depending on the number of seats available for
that category.
c) Admission will be provisional and subject to approval by Central University of
Tamil Nadu.
d) The reservation of seats for SC, ST, and OBC will be as per CEI norms: SC
(15%), ST (7.5%), and OBC (27%). The reservation of seats for physically
challenged candidates will be as per CEI norms.
e) The call letters for the counseling are being emailed. Note: Call for counseling
does not guarantee admission. Admission would be based on seat availability
within each category.
f) Each selected candidate shall pay a non-refundable amount of Rs. 5000 in
demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Madras School of Economics’ payable at
Chennai, which will be adjusted towards the first-semester fee.

Hostel fees are separately given.

g) Hostel accommodation is not guaranteed. Selection is as per MSE rules. Outstation
students are given priority. Students desirous of hostel accommodation
should fill in the hostel admission form at the time of counseling.
h) The fee for hostel accommodation is Rs. 25,000 per academic year. There is a
hostel caution deposit (refundable) of amount Rs. 10000 which would be payable
at the time of the admission to the hostel.
i) All payments have to be paid in the form of DD in favor of Madras School of
Economics, payable at Chennai.
