Upon completion of the symposium, participants will<br />
understand the psychosocial impact of cancer on patients<br />
and families and will apply knowledge of psychosocial<br />
care in relation to:<br />
• Brain fog – how it impacts daily living, and cognitive<br />
strategies to help combat it.<br />
• The role of screening for distress and distress<br />
management in patient care and well being.<br />
• Sexual health issues for survivors - approaches for<br />
assessment and intervention.<br />
• The Pan-Canadian collaborative of psychosocial<br />
professionals providing online support groups for<br />
Canadians affected by cancer.<br />
• Spiritual beliefs – how they are both challenged and<br />
strengthened by a cancer diagnosis.<br />
• The challenges encountered by cancer survivors in<br />
transition from active treatment to their ‘new normal’.<br />
