Driven by our promote from within philosophy, the University of Village Green offers a clear path to success and the tools needed to advance our associates’ careers to successfully accommodate our growth. Associates get their first experience with Village Green at the University of Village Green’s New Hire Orientation, an intensive, weeklong education session, and have the opportunity to continue with the University’s more than 50 formalized courses that cover a variety of subjects including leasing, marketing, management, maintenance, customer service and more. While the University of Village Green provides a solid base and ongoing education for associates, the training and recognition programs within allow the company to keep a higher retention rate than others in the industry. Not only is this important for today’s work force, it is also vital to Village Green’s success, and provides a strong foundation for achieving the most efficient and profitable operations. The University of Village Green’s training is focused on seven concentrations and/or growth opportunities, including: • New Hire Orientation (required for all associates) • Certified Leasing Specialist • Manager-In-Training (MIT) • Executive Manager • Certified Service Technician • Service Manager-In-Training (SMIT) • Continuing Education • Annual Seminar At 40 years old and as one of the multi-family industry’s most comprehensive training programs, the University of Village Green’s formalized continued education classes are taught by various executives and outside experts in the field. New Hire Orientation, the first session taken by all brand new associates, regardless of their level, gives insight on the company’s various divisions and respective responsibilities, comprehensive capabilities and Village Green’s proven tactics within the industry. After this orientation, associates can elect to choose from a variety of offerings that keep both new hires and seasoned team members abreast of the latest trends and ahead of the competition. Whatever the goal is – through the University of Village Green – our associates can gain the knowledge needed to have a thriving career and outperform the market. Certified Leasing Specialist In this program, top performing Leasing Consultants and Leasing Managers continue their education with concentrated marketing and leasing courses to enhance their sales and customer service abilities. They gain experience by taking advantage of opportunities to mentor and train other Village Green Leasing Consultants nationwide, offer assistance to under-performingcommunities, and provide leadership for overall team motivation and direction as they display outstanding rental abilities. Manager In Training The MIT program gives selected college graduates or degreed internal associates the opportunity to advance to a Property, Assistant or Leasing Manager position. Associates receive hands-on practical leadership training in Operations Management, Marketing, Financial Analysis and Human Resources, as well as other core curriculum. The courses cover rent collection, financial analysis, leadership, implementing marketing plans, etc. Associates also are closely mentored by Village Green executives and have the opportunity to attend a variety of business and industry forums to further familiarize themselves with and stay abreast of trends. Executive Manager The Executive Management Program provides extensive training and mentoring from Village Green's executives to an elite group of property managers in preparation for future leadership opportunities, i.e., Area Directors, Asset Managers and in some cases Marketing Directors. Regional Vice Presidents recommend property managers for this program. Certified Service Technician Proven Maintenance Supervisors enroll in this program, which includes courses in customer service, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, appliances and preventive maintenance, to advance to a Certified Service Technician. The ability to broaden their careers further enhances the Maintenance Department by providing technical service to residents, but also by allowing them to serve as mentors to other Village Green maintenance associates. Service Manager-In-Training This program gives technicians the opportunity to gain a leadership role as a Service Manager. Along with ongoing facilities and maintenance training, they also take part in courses focused on leadership, service quality and customer service. The respective Urban or Suburban Director mentors them throughout the program. Continuing Education Throughout the year, Village Green associates at all levels can take advantage of a variety of career enhancement classes offered by the University of Village Green. From brush up courses on various computer programs to policies and procedures to overcoming objections to risk management, Village Green provides ongoing training to make sure associates are well-equipped to advance their careers and also perform their jobs to the best of their ability. Annual Seminar Each year, Village Green Companies’ associates have the opportunity to gain additional training and insight into Village Green’s current operations and future at our annual Seminar. This all-inclusive, two-day Seminar held near the company’s headquarters in Farmington Hills brings together Village Green’s best of the best for a variety of educational opportunities, including brainstorming, team building, best practices and a little fun for all.
