live in single-parent families, a trend that has paralleled the increasing economic<br />
difficulties of black men” (Trimberger, p. 86). Among whites, she believes that there is a<br />
divide, attributed to the women’s education. She states that the higher numbers of white<br />
women who are single mothers have less education, because there has been very little<br />
change among women who have graduated from college.<br />
Women’s Self Image<br />
According to Jessie Bernard (1988),<br />
When freed from the limits on them by their low self-image, women will be more<br />

women in the US who are embracing feminist values. The conclusion of the study was<br />
