Mathematics<br />

1. Find the sum of 4/7 of Rs. 588 and 5/9 of Rs. 432.<br />

2. 16/25 of a number is 816. Find the number.<br />

3. In a fraction, the denominator exceeds the numerator by 4. If the numerator and the<br />

denominator are both increased by 9, the fraction becomes 7/8. Find the original<br />

fraction..<br />

4. A cake weighs 2 kg. If 2/7 of its weight is flour, 1/8 of its weight is sugar, 3/<strong>14</strong> of its<br />

weight is milk and the rest is nuts and plums, find the weight of nuts and plums in the<br />

cake.<br />

5. Find the least fraction that must be subtracted from the sum of 5/2, 11/3, 19/4 and 29/5<br />

so that the result is a whole number.<br />

6. A water tank was 5/8 filled with water. 7/10 of this water was consumed and then 125<br />

litre of water was added through a filling pipe. If the tank is now half full, find the<br />

capacity of the tank.<br />

7. The highest score in an inning was 3/11 of the total and the next highest was 3/11 of the<br />

remainder. If the scores differed by 63, find the total score.<br />

8. Add: 9.89 + 0.989 + 98.09 + 989.098 + 98.0989<br />

9. Find the difference between 0.1 and 0.0001<br />

10. Find the product: 1.11 x 0.11 x 1.1 x 1.01 x 1000<br />

11. A car can cover a distance of 32.6 km in 2 litre of petrol. How much distance will it<br />

cover in 3.5 litre?


12. Sayak’s father gave him Rs. 100. He spent Rs. 28.05 out of the money he received<br />

from his father. He has to buy a book for Rs. 125. How much more money does he need<br />

to get from his father?<br />

13. Anish travels 25.25 km by bus, 12.045 km by scooter and some distance on foot. How<br />

much distance does he walk if he travels 45 km in all?<br />

<strong>14</strong>. Express the following as mentioned: (i) 15 m 17 cm as km (ii) 30 minutes 20 seconds as<br />

minutes<br />

15. Sulagna bought 3.5 m of a dress material which costs Rs. 110.80 per metre. If she gave a<br />

five-hundred-rupee note to the shopkeeper, then how much money will she get back?<br />

16. A taxi charges Rs. 10.25 per km for a distance covered. The taxi driver had to pay Rs.<br />

21 as toll charges. Find the total amount the customer will have to pay for a journey of<br />

46.8 km that includes toll charges also?<br />

17. Mrs. Roy wanted to buy a frock for her little daughter. The shopkeeper offered her one<br />

of the frocks for Rs. 630 usually selling for 8/7 of that price and the other one for Rs.<br />

600 usually selling for 7/6 of that price. Of the two frocks which one do you think is a<br />

better bargain?<br />

18. A man everyday takes three rounds of a rectangular park whose length is 1.25 km and<br />

breadth is 0.5 km. How much total distance does he cover in a week?<br />

19. Shubham bought 5 kg 300 g apples and 3 kg 250 g mangoes. Suvrat bought 4 kg 800 g<br />

apples and 4 kg 150 g mangoes. Who bought more fruits?<br />

20. Ishani has Rs. 100 to spend. She buys a pen for Rs. 12.50, a geometry box for Rs. 42.50,<br />

a chocolate for Rs. 25.00. How much money is still left with her?<br />
