Your El Kahir Shrine dues will be increased to one hundred forty five dollars ($145.00) per El Kahir Shrine Nobility approval vote change at the September 2009 Stated Meeting (as presented by Chief Rabban Linc Aldershof), which stated, “there will be automatic five dollar increase in dues each year or until it is rescinded by vote of the Nobility at a Stated Meeting.” (See below for the various dues structures.) Illustrious Sir Larry D. Ritze called the October Informational Stated Meeting to order at 7:30pm on October 10, 2012, with officers at their stations except Assistant Rabban Noble Todd B. Eiler and Treasurer Noble Brian H. Lange who were absence on personal business; Oriental Guide Noble Douglas J. Strike who was absent while vacationing in Florida; and Chaplain Noble Tom Boeckmann who was attending International Membership Seminar at Shriners Headquarters in Tampa, FL. Trustee Noble Tom Kurtz was Pro-Tem Chaplain. Illustrious Sir Larry D. Ritze requested the Pro-Tem Chaplain Noble Tom Kurtz to give the Invocation, after which Illustrious Sir James M. Fry, PP 1995 lead the Nobility in the Pledge of Allegiance. Illustrious Sir welcomed the attending Nobility. Illustrious Sir requested the Role Call of Units and Clubs. Recorder read the Role Call; there were eleven Units and nine Clubs represented. Illustrious Sir requested the reading of the minutes of the September Stated Meeting of September 12, 2012. Recorder Illustrious Sir Roger D. Donegan, PP 1991 made a motion to approve the minutes as published in the October Karavan. Second by Illustrious Sir James M. Fry, PP 1995. Motion carried. First Drawing won by Noble Jim McClintock. Illustrious Sir Larry D. Ritze requested the El Kahir Shrine Membership Report. Recorder Illustrious Sir Donegan gave the following report: Creations 0 Affiliations 0 Restorations 0 Deaths 2 Demits 1 Suspensions 0 Associates 0 Membership ending September 30, 2012 was 821 Nobles plus eight Associates for a total of 829 Members. He also reported in September Stated Meeting there were 78 Nobles who had not paid their 2012 dues, as of October 10 th there were 62 Nobles remaining who have not paid their 2012 Dues. We have 82 days left before suspension notices will be mailed out. The Recorder urged the Nobles and Unit/Club officers present to ask their fellow Nobles who have either demitted or was suspended to reconsider and rejoin El Kahir Shrine. In the absence of Treasurer Noble Brian H. Lange, Illustrious Sir Larry gave the El Kahir Shrine monthly and year–to-date financial status. The financial report should improve with the receipts of the Gun Raffle and C.S.S.A.when they are deposited in the El Kahir Shrine Center’s General Fund account. Illustrious Sir Larry made a motion to approve the report as presented, subject to audit. Second by Noble James Mouchka. Motion carried. Second Drawing won by Noble Norman Wright. Illustrious Sir Larry requested the reading of deceased Nobles’ names. Chaplain Pro-Tem Noble Tom Kurtz read the names of Nobles Leland Beneke and Charles N. Searles. He also read the “Shriners International – In Memoriam for Imperial Sir Walker S. Kisselburgh, Past Imperial Potentate 1985/1986, who died on August 17, 2012. He gave a prayer for the departed Nobles and Imperial Sir Kisselburgh. Third Drawing won by Noble Ralph Palmer, who donated it to the Endowment Fund. Illustrious Sir Larry requested Noble Ralph Palmer to give a report on the El Kahir Shrine Endowment Fund. Noble Palmer gave a very detailed report on the financial status of the Endowment Fund. A copy of the report is in the Recorder’s office for review by any interested Noble. Noble Steve Leathers gave an up-to-date financial report on the El Kahir Shrine Gun Raffle as of October 10 th . Illustrious Sir Larry requested Illustrious Sir James M. Fry, PP 1995 to give his final C.S.S.A. Financial Report on C.S.S.A 2012 held in August. On completion of his report, there was considerable discussion on the funds which Illustrious Sir Fry as Potentate of C.S.S.A. 2012 wanted to withhold as “start-up” funds for the 2013 C.S.S.A. Business Session being held in Cedar Rapids on March 13-15, 2013. There was discussion by various Nobles in attendance as to why Illustrious Sir Fry wanted to withhold a portion of the money for “start-up money”. Illustrious Sir Fry explained his reasoning for wanting these funds. Although, Nobles on questioning, agreed all the funds collected during the C.S.S.A. Ceremonial in August 2012 were under the control of the Potentate of El Kahir Shrine, and therefore, all funds should be sent to El Kahir Shrine and the bank account closed. Illustrious Sir Fry directed C.S.S.A. Treasurer Noble Norman Wright to write a check to El Kahir Shrine for the entire amount of funds in the account. Discussion ended. Noble James Mouchka announced the Basket Night on Friday, October 12 th at 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Also, he is still a candidate for the office of Recorder. Illustrious Sir Rod Solberg, PP 2006, President of the Foot Patrol Unit presented a check from the El Kahir Shrine Foot Patrol for $500.00 to the Endowment Fund. Illustrious Sir Carl E.A. Hallberg, PP 2001, El Kahir Shrine Representative to Board of Governors Twin Cities Shriners Children’s Hospital talked about the association between Twin Cities Shriners Children’s Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
