The Circus was here September 23-24, 2011. The Rolling Meadows Park District 

Foundation and the School District 15 Educational Foundation collaborated to 

bring the Kelly Miller Circus to our community.

Winter Picnic 

Saturday, January 21 

There is no place like home in the winter time. Come to the Community Center 

patio, snow or shine, and enjoy a festive winter day. We will be barbecuing, 

drinking hot chocolate and going down the sled hill. All you need to do is dress 

warmly and bring your sled. All families are welcome.

Daddy Daughter Dance 

Saturday, February 18 

Fathers bring your daughters to Park Central for an enchanting evening. Enjoy

chance for girls to dress up and spend the evening with dad.

Lunch With The Easter Bunny 

Saturday, March 31 

The Easter Bunny is hopping into town and wants to see you! We have planned 

a lunch filled with pizza, veggies, lemonade and dessert. Everyone will have a 

chance to visit with the Easter Bunny, play games and go on an egg hunt. 

Bring your favorite basket and don’t forget to bring your camera. 

You will have the option to purchase a professional 5x7 photo for $10.

Community Garage Sale 

Saturday, May 19 

Spring cleaning? Pack it up and sell it at our spring garage sale. We will take care 

of all the advertising and set up. All you have to do is bring your things and sell 

them. It’s that simple. This is an indoor event. A 10’x10’ space is available along 

with one table. Registration deadline is Tuesday, May 15.

This princess theme party is a royal reception. 

Guests will have their nails painted plus 

decorate a crown and bracelet. Guests may 

come dressed as their favorite princess.

This Birthday Party is families up to 60 guests. 

You have access to a decorated party room for 

three hours for food, cake and presents. Our 

Party Staff will set up and lead activities/games

especially for you. We have soccer, indoor

Recital Payment Plan 

-Payments for dance classes can be made in full or broken up into three equal 

payments. 

-Payment plans can be made at the Community Center only, not online. 

-You MUST fill out a recital payment plan form in addition to the registration 

form at the Community Center in order to use the recital payment plan. 

-Payment plans MUST be paid on a credit card. 

-The 1st payment will be deducted at registration. The remaining balance will be 

automatically deducted on Monday, 2/20 and Monday, 4/9. 

Recital Fees 

All recital classes, other than company classes, are priced to include 3 sessions 

of classes, a NON-REFUNDABLE costume fee, and a recital participation fee. 

Anyone participating in more than one recital class will receive a $35 discount on

Palatine Youth Chorus 

Palatine Children’s Chorus (Ages 8-18) 

This is a program for children who love to sing! The Palatine Children’s Chorus 

is celebrating their 25th season. The Chorus safely nurtures children’s voices, 

introduces all age groups to a variety of music and offers each level appropriate 

music instruction. Traveling choirs have performed at New York’s famed Carnegie 

Hall, Niagara Falls, Montreal, Quebec, Great Britain, Hawaii, Austria, Venice, San 

Francisco and in the renowned Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They have also 

performed for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Joffrey Ballet, at Lincoln 

Park Zoo and at the Illinois State Fair, as well as many local Palatine-area venues. 

Concert Choir will travel to Spain in June 2012 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary 

season.

regular lesson setting. All aspects of the game of tennis are covered: stroke

Adult TKD will improve flexibility, balance, strength, endurance and over-all

Little Ninjas 

Little Ninjas is designed for preschool and kindergarten kids, ages 4 and 5. The 

curriculum is fun and will keep your child engaged with nonstop action. Class 

concentrates on developing coordination, balance, focus, respect and discipline 

of TKD training. 

Kids TKD 

Kids TKD will affect your child in powerful ways, providing benefits that will last a 

lifetime. The program focuses on improving basic motor skills, as well as 

challenging the student by adding more traditional martial arts training and increasing 

the level of intensity. The program consists of a balanced cardiovascular 

workout, including punching, kicking and blocking skills while using self control 

and the TKD tradition. 

Junior TKD 

Junior TKD students will become better pupils at school, stronger listeners at 

home and more ambitious about their future. They will develop their focus,

Archery (Ages 7-12) 

Archery participants will learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics 

of using a recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills in an extremely safe

Gymnastics Birthday Party Info 

Plan your child’s next birthday party at our Gymnastics Center. 

We provide gymnastics, fun and friendly cooperative games that are age appropriate 

and sure to delight the kids. Our parties are 90 minutes long. The 

first hour includes activities in the gym, led by one of our enthusiastic 

instructors. The last half hour is reserved for the traditional birthday cake 

and treats. We provide the fun, along with a friendly instructor to lead the 

activities. We also furnish tables and chairs for cake time. Waivers are 

handed out; participant signatures required. Parties are held on Sunday

Girl’s Gymnastic Team 

The Girl’s Gymnastic Team follows the 10 level Junior Olympic programs which 

are regulated by USA Gymnastics (USAG), our sport’s governing body. We 

currently train athletes who compete USAG levels 4-9 and High School (IHSA). 

The team travels to competitions with other park districts and gymnastics clubs. 

Pre-requisite for joining the team is successful completion of pre-team training

This program specializes in floor and trampoline skills. Specifically 

designed for the needs of cheerleaders and aspiring cheerleaders, the 

class features a strong emphasis on the tumbling and jumping skills which 

have become necessary in this growing sport. There are 2 levels of 

tumbling classes offered; beginner (1) and intermediate (2). For safety 

reasons all students new to the tumbling programs should enroll for the 

beginner level unless the tumbler can perform a back handspring 

unassisted. Tumbling 1 skill goals include handstands, round offs and flip 

flops. Tumbling 2 skill goals include back flips and layouts, layouts with 

twists, alternates and bounders.

Boxing/Cardio Boxing Class 

(Ages: Adults 14+/Youth 8-14) 

Boxing can be an excellent source of conditioning and positive recognition. Our 

program is specifically designed to provide you with an extremely fulfilling and 

beneficial experience. It’s a great method to release frustrations in a positive 

way and to build self-confidence and character. Beginning classes will cover 

punching, defensive and offensive fundamentals, endurance exercises, sheer 

power exercises, knowledge of space perception between your opponents, 

sparring, shadowboxing and heavy bag. Extensive warm up and cool down 

exercises are always done in the beginning and at the end of each class session. 

Conditioning is the key component to attaining a proper boxing form. To build 

proper boxing etiquette, consistency is a must. Weekly repetition will improve

Rolling Meadows Youth Baseball 

serves area boys and girls thru High School. It is the local house baseball 

league for the Rolling Meadows area. Our goal is to provide a safe and 

fun atmosphere to teach our youth the fundementals. Our league includes 

ages from seven to seventeen. 

• RMYB is a fun, family oriented baseball league that has been in existance 

for over 50 years with a proud tradition of baseball excellance. 

• NEW for 2012! We are adding multiple instructional sessions for the 

players to learn from Professional Baseball Instructors. 

• Equal playing time for all participants. 

• Only local area program where Instructional age (7/8 year old) players 

learn how to pitch. 

• Pre-season conditioning. The Rolling Meadows High School Fieldhouse 

is available on Sunday’s in February and March for registered players to 

play catch, workout and take batting practice in the batting cage. 

• Play begins in early April and concludes in July.

Early Childhood... Where Fun & Exploration Begins. 

Our Early Childhood programs are designed to encourage free expression while developing self-confidence for each child. 

Our facilities provide many separate areas for active, quiet and creative play. 

• Our gymnasium and tot playground are used for motor movement 

activities. 

• Art, music, physical and social development through creative play are a 

part of our daily schedule. 

• Various field trips and story time through the public library provide a 

variety of enjoyable learning experiences. 

• Introduction to kindergarten readiness skills is a part of the program 

format for the four year old class. 

• All three year olds must be three on or before the start of a session and 

they must be toilet trained. 

• All four year olds must be four by September 1, 2012.

On Monday, January 16 we will begin taking resident registration for the Fall 

2012 Preschool, Tot Time and Pre-Kindergarten classes. Children who are 

currently enrolled will have an advance pre-registration in the preschool 

office January 9-13. Registration for non-residents who do not have a child in the 

2011-2012 program will begin Monday, January 23. After January 23, 

registration for preschool will be accepted continuously until September 2012. 

Anyone registering a child for preschool, tot time or pre-k must have a birth certificate 

or passport to prove the child’s date of birth. In addition, proof of 

immunization will be required at the start of school in September 2012. All four 

year olds must be four by September 1, 2012. There is a $25 non-refundable/

An excellent babysitting service is offered at the Community 

Center. The service is available Monday through Friday. There is 

a limit of four hours paid service per person on a daily basis. The 

service is available at $2.00/hr. per child for parents/children 

participating in a park district program. If you have something 

special to do or have errands to run and want to use the service, 

it will be available at $3.75/hr. per child, $4.75/hr. for infants to 

18 months. Please register two days in advance. Infants to 5 year 

olds are welcome. Fee is due when you pick up your child.

Starting January 2, we will begin taking 2012 camp registrations. Payment plans will only be offered with automatic withdrawal via credit cards. All camp programs 

must be paid in full at the time of registration if not choosing the payment plan. All camp participants are required to fill out a Camper Information Packet prior to the 

start of camp. Individual Week option registration begins Monday, June 4th, upon availability.

start of camp. Children who just completed kindergarten are still welcome in this 

camp. A camp t-shirt will be provided. All campers must be toilet trained.

This program allows children who are registered for Tot Camp to spend an extra 

afternoon participating in fun activities at the Community Center. Program time

Junior Kid’s Camp (5-6 Year Olds, must be 5 by 6/11/12)

Come join the fun in this camp designed for children that are 5 & 6. We know 

that children of this age have their own set of needs and we have worked out 

a summer of fun that will include arts, crafts, games, field trips, swim time (not 

during public swim), special events and more. Bring a sack lunch and juice box

RMPD Summer Skating Camp is for recreational and competitive skaters alike. 

Our camp includes an exciting array of specialty classes and activities both on 

and off the ice. Instructed by experienced national USFS and PSA accredited 

coaches, this skating curriculum will help skaters to reach their full potential.

Always...Patsy Cline- Theatre at the Center

Houston housewife Louise Segar, who befriended the star in a Texas 

honky-tonk in 1961 and continued a correspondence with Patsy for

Hockey Tots (Level 1) (Ages 3-9) 

Our Hockey Tot/Learn to Skate class is part of the 

Renegades Program. This class will put beginner 

skaters on track to participate in our hockey 

program. All the same features of the RMPD Learn to 

Skate class with a bit of hockey flare. First time 

skaters will learn: the proper way to fall, marching 

while standing and moving, swizzles, push and glide 

and two foot glide. Basic hockey activities such as 

playing with pucks and shooting will be incorporated 

into the end of each class, when skaters are 

balanced and confident enough to do so. No 

experience is needed. Skates, helmet and sticks are 

available for use in class at each ice arena.

Pre-Mites (Level 2) 

Pre-mites is for players passing through the Hockey 

Tot class, Learn to Skate Tots 2 class, Pre-Alpha class, 

or can skate the length of the ice with a push and 

glide motion (not marching or walking motion). Class 

covers all the basic skating techniques used in the 

game of hockey, along with an introduction to puck 

handling, passing and shooting, all in a fun, 

educational atmosphere. This class is intended to 

give kids the basic introduction to the sport of ice 

hockey so they may continue their education of the 

game for years to come.

Pre-Mite League 

Pre-Mite League is your player’s first introduction 

to the game of hockey. The league follows the USA 

Hockey Initiation program format of cross ice games. 

The ice is divided into smaller sections and each 

section has it’s own game. This format allows for the 

beginning skater to have more success while 

enjoying the first experience in a game setting. 

Scoring is not kept, to decrease the competitiveness 

of the games and keep the emphasis on learning and 

having fun. During games positions are not followed, 

allowing for a free flowing game that is easier for the 

kids to enjoy and more effective for their skill 

development. All Pre-Mites are encouraged to join 

the Pre-Mite League as an addition to their regular 

class. All games and teams are divided by talent level 

and not by age.

like to try hockey for the first time. Classes are held on days off of school and 

holiday vacation weeks. Helmets, skates and sticks are supplied at no 

additional cost for all skaters. New skaters and current hockey tot skaters only 

please! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Instructors will be present to assist new 

skaters and organize practice time. Free play is included.

Northwest Chargers Travel Hockey Association 

The Northwest Chargers Travel Hockey Association is a not-for-profit youth 

athletic organization consisting of 11 travel teams with a total enrollment of 

approximately 150 players ranging in age from 7-18. The Chargers participate in 

the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) with Mites through Midgets at the 

Bronze, Silver and Gold level, and in the Central States Developmental Hockey 

League (CSDHL), Squirts through Midget Majors. For more information on the

Rolling Meadows Adult Hockey 

Adult Hockey League 

The Rolling Meadows Park District offers several skill 

level divisions to fit any players ability (B, C1, C2, 

C3, H1, H2, H3). The league is designed to provide 

participants with a fun, competitive atmosphere. 

Registration is taken on a team or an individual basis. 

Each team is guaranteed 20 games including at least 

one playoff game. Games consist of three 14 minute 

stop time periods with two referees and a scorekeeper. 

Days and times of games are on a random

“40 and Over” 

Over 40 League with C and H divisions! All games 

will be played at the West Meadows Ice Arena or 

the Nelson Sports Complex or Hoffman Estates. The

Ice Skating 

United States Figure Skating Association 

The United States Figure Skating Association, is the governing body of amateur 

figure skating clubs in the United States. Tests in moves, freestyle, pair & dance 

are the measurement of progress in the various branches of the sport. 

Competitions on every level are a principal incentive for figure skaters to train, 

develop and improve their proficiency. By ascending the competition “ladder”, 

competitors registered with the U.S. Figure Skating Association gain entry into 

international figure skating events among them the World Championships and 

the Olympic Games. 

Ice Skating Institute 

The Ice Skating Institute, I.S.I. is an instructional program that appeals to all ice 

skating interests and styles for the purpose of encouraging people of all ages to 

skate more often. 

All skaters enrolled in the Learn to Skate program are eligible to become 

individual members of the Ice Skating Institute. 

A cost of $15 for an I.S.I. membership includes your own national 

membership and registration number, identification card, one year subscription 

to Recreational Ice Skating Magazine, a limited accident insurance policy, 

membership certificate and membership badge. 

ISI Test Registration & Patches 

Skaters may receive a patch and have their tests registered with I.S.I. only if they 

have an I.S.I. membership. Forms for membership are available in the Nelson 

Sports Complex office. 

Frost Fest Individual Competition 

More than two hundred competitive skaters from the Chicago area will gather at 

West Meadows Ice Arena on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 to compete in our 

14th annual Frost Fest competition. Children from the age of three (3) to adults 

will be competing in solo, compulsories, music interpretation and synchronized 

skating. Chicago Jazz Synchronized Skating teams will also be doing exhibitions 

highlighting their competitive programs for the new year. To enter, contact the

is free. 

Figure Skating School Presents

RMPD Summer Skating Camp is for recreational and competitive skaters alike. 

Our camp includes an exciting array of specialty classes and activities both on 

and off the ice. Instructed by experienced national USFS and PSA accredited 

coaches, this skating curriculum will help skaters to reach their full potential.

Off ice dance, conditioning and flexibility class 

On ice specialty classes (i.e. Annie’s edges, Jump technique, Spin, Style)

guardians to follow when dropping their child(ren) off at a park district program. 

• Please escort children to and from the building, pool, field etc. 

• Please take child directly into class or activity area.

• On occasion an instructor may encounter an emergency or an unexpected 

situation which causes them to be late or miss a class. If this occurs, the 

instructor notifies the program supervisor as soon as possible and the 

supervisor addresses the situation as quickly as possible. 

Chicago Jazz 

Synchronized Skating 

Rolling Meadows Park District ice arenas are the home rinks for the Chicago Jazz 

Synchronized Skating Teams. There are seven teams representing the Chicago 

Jazz. Two teams, the Mousettes and the Shooting Stars, skate in the Ice Skating 

Institute (ISI) competitions and the other five represent the Chicago Figure 

Skating Club in U.S. Figure Skating competitions. We are proud to announce that 

our teams had a wonderfully successful season. At the 2011 U.S. Nationals, the 

Jazz won the Silver Medal in the juvenile division and the Pewter Medal in the 

Junior division. Congratulations to all of the Chicago Jazz skaters on another

LEARN TO SKATE at the NELSON SPORTS COMPLEX School of Skating Instruction 

Our Learn-to-Skate program follows the guidelines as set by the Ice Skating Institute of America. Classes for the beginner through advanced skater are

42nd Annual Spring Ice Show 

“Meadows Film Festival” 

May 4, 5, 6, 2012 

Local skating stars and Chicago Jazz Synchronized Skating teams will 

dazzle you with inspired performances at our Annual Spring Ice Show. Skaters who wish to participate in the Spring Ice Show must 

purchase the prescribed costume, attend group practices and participate in both Winter 1 & Winter 2 skating sessions. 

All costumes will ONLY be ordered January 3 through January 14. 

Skating School 

With over 40 years of credible experience beneath our blades, our professional 

staff of coaches can expertly guide you through a complete skating program. 

Our coaches will provide you with encouragement and build confidence as you 

begin your first classes. As you progress, we will teach you the technical 

intricacies of jumping and spinning. Our mission is: “To provide a thorough 

skating education in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.” We’re anxious to share 

our skating talent and enthusiasm with you and your family. 

New sessions begin 6 times throughout the year: Fall 1 - September, 

Fall 2 - October, Winter 1 - January, Winter 2 - February, Spring - May and 

Summer - June. 

Our programs follow guidelines set by the Ice Skating Institute to provide classes 

for beginner through advanced skaters. This system provides a yardstick for all 

skaters and is geared to the interest of the recreational skater. Once a skater 

learns the basic skills, he or she may choose to master specific skills in figure 

skating, competition, hockey or continue to enjoy recreational skating, 

For those students interested in taking their talents to the next level or just 

getting some extra help, private lessons can be arranged by selecting and 

contacting a coach, then agreeing on a mutually convenient and available ice 

time. For your convenience, you can pick up a staff information flyer at the 

Nelson Sports Complex Ice Arena office. Coaches’ fees vary and are payable 

directly to the coach; ice fees are paid to the Rolling Meadows Park District.

In addition to the full schedule of group classes, the Ice Arena also provides daily 

freestyle ice sessions for practice and private lessons. This is the time when 

skaters can work individually on their jumps, spins and other maneuvers, 

rehearse competitive programs or work with their private coaches. These 

sessions typically begin at 5:40am each weekday, ending most days at 4pm. 

These ice slots may be contracted at the beginning of a skating season for a 

reduced rate, or may be paid for on a walk-on basis if space is available.

TOT - BEGINNER 3 - 5 YEARS. 

PRE ALPHA - BEGINNER 6 Years & UP - Prerequisite: No previous skating 

experience. Skills: Forward stroking, one foot glide (right & left), snow plow stop, 

forward swizzles, dip, backward wiggles, forward pumps. 

ALPHA - Prerequisite: Passed Pre alpha. Skills: One foot glide (right & left), 

forward stroking, snow plow stop, backward swizzles, forward crossovers (right 

& left), back pumps (right & left). 

BETA - Prerequisite: Passed Alpha. Skills: Backward stroking, T-stop (right & left), 

backward swizzles, backward crossovers (right & left), 2 foot turns. 

GAMMA - Prerequisite: Passed Beta. Skills: Hockey stop, outside three turn (right 

& left), Mohawk sequence (right & left), 2 foot edges. 

DELTA - Prerequisite: Passed Gamma. Skills: Inside three turn (right & left), back 

three turn (rights & left), bunny hop, lunge, forward edges (outside & inside), 

back edges (right & left). 

FREESTYLE I - Prerequisite: Passed Delta. Skills: Two foot spin, forward inside 

pivot, one half flip, waltz jump, forward spiral, back outside edges, back inside 

edges, full rotation jump, back double three (right & left). 

FREESTYLE II - Prerequisite: Passed Freestyle I. Skills: One foot spin, one-half toe 

walley, ballet jump, spiral (right & left), half lutz, bell waltz jump, waltz jump back 

three, dance step. 

FREESTYLE III - Prerequisite: Passed Freestyle II. Skills: Change foot spin, toe 

loop/toe walley, salchow jump, backward spiral, back inside pivot, back outside 

pivot, axel once around, dance step. 

FREESTYLE IV - Prerequisite: Passed Freestyle III. Skills: Sit spin, flip jump, loop 

jump, backward spiral (right & left), one-half loop jump, axel once around, dance 

step. 

FREESTYLE V - Prerequisite: Passed Freestyle IV. Skills: Camel spin, spin 

combination, back scratch spin, lutz jump, axel jump, loop-loop combination

FREESTYLE VI & UP - Prerequisite: Passed Freestyle V. Skills: Double jumps &

TEEN BEGINNER - Ages 12-17-Pre-requisite: No previous skating experience. 

Bring your friends and learn to skate in a more mature environment. 

ADULTS - Prerequisite: No previous skating experience. Adults, beginner to 

advanced, learn at their own pace. 

POWER CLASSES - All Ages-Besides learning skills like jumps and spins, skaters 

need to develop power, quickness and speed at increasing amounts with each 

graduation in level. This class focuses on that element of developing the skater.

Beginners Want To Know... 

The Ice Arena may be a cool 50°, so dress 

appropriately including gloves, hat/helmet, 

long pants (preferably not jeans) and long 

sleeves. Students can rent skates from the 

ice arena. For skate sizes, use the same size 

as your shoe in whole sizes. To tie your skates, 

loosen all laces, pull out tongue, step into skate, 

push heel down and then tie skates tightly.

Skating School Policies 

You will be tested & given a progress report during the 2 weeks before the end 

of the session. Make-ups are only allowed if classes are not full. You must go 

to the office and get a permission slip to give to the teacher at the make-up class. 

Pro-rated refund requests are accepted at the arena office only until the end of 

the 3rd week of the session. You can enroll in more than one class. Attending 

extra classes, private lessons or public skating sessions will help you advance 

more quickly. Our professional coaches also teach private lessons if you want

C.A.R.E. & NWSRA 

C.A.R.E. Children’s Activity, Recreation and Enrichment 

C.A.R.E. is a cooperative program between Community Consolidated School District 15, Palatine Park District and Rolling Meadows Park District. 

C.A.R.E. is a before and after school program for children of working parents. We offer a variety of activities including: arts, crafts, snacks, gym 

activities, outdoor play, active and quiet games, computer use, as well as time to do homework and read. 

The program is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The before school portion of the 

program runs from 7am until school starts and after school runs until 6pm. A full day program is 

offered on institute days and most school holiday for a separate fee. Full day programs may be at a 

different site than the home site as determined by enrollment.

Northwest Special Recreation Association 

NWSRA exists to provide outstanding opportunities through recreation for children and adults with disabilities. 

The Rolling Meadows Park District is proud to be a member of Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA). Throughout the northwest 

suburbs, NWSRA is the leader in providing outstanding recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. NWSRA’s team of full-time 

Therapeutic Recreation Professionals and trained part-time staff offer a multitude of year-round program offerings including sports, camping, social 

programs and more. Increased self esteem, physical and social skills development, making friends and having fun are just a few of the benefits of 

participating in NWSRA programs. Camps, trips, and special events are also available at various times throughout the year. 

Inclusion assistance is provided by NWSRA to those individuals who wish to participate in their home park district program. When registering, the 

parent of an individual with a disability should inform the park district (and NWSRA, if desired) of any accommodation needed in order for the 

individual to successfully participate in the program. The park district staff will then contact NWSRA for assistance with the accommodation. 

NWSRA is hiring leaders for positions of inclusion as well as NWSRA programs. If you have an interest in working with individuals with disabilities,

In September 2011, the Rolling Meadows Park District Foundation and the School 

District 15 Educational Foundation collaborated to bring the Kelly Miller Circus to 

our community. The Circus was a huge success. The Parks Foundation would like to 

thank everyone that attended the circus. At the October meeting of the Parks 

Foundation, the board members voted to support a tree-planting project in the 

parks. A motion to donate $6,000 to the park district for the purchase of 50 trees 

passed unanimously. The trees will be planted throughout all eleven parks. 

Give to Park Programs. 

Programs such as preschool, dance, sports or events occasionally need sponsorship. 

This can be achieved by furnishing supplies or making a cash contribution. This is 

an excellent way to take a good program to great! Families, businesses and service 

clubs can involve themselves in the community through this type of charitable 

donation. 

Provide Scholarships. 

Many deserving children are unable to participate in Park District programs due to 

limitations on the family budget. By donating to the Park District Scholarship 

Program you can help a child learn a skill, have a safe place to go after school or for 

summer camp or to simply have some much needed fun as a part of his/her day. 

Any size donation would be welcomed. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Rolling 

Meadows for their ongoing support of the scholarship program.

Olympic Pool is an indoor pool located at 660 North Ridge Road in Arlington Heights. Rolling Meadows Park District residents are eligible to swim at Olympic Pool for

Glenn will show a colorful and fact-filled presentation on successfully growing

for flower display and how to manage the blue/pink will be discussed in clear 

detail. This slide presentation is very popular and is “one of a kind” in the 

Chicago area.

Receipts 

Unless a receipt is requested at the time of drop-off 

registration, your receipt will be e-mailed if you have given us 

a valid email address. 

Refunds 

The Rolling Meadows Park District reserves the right to 

cancel, postpone or combine classes or change instructors. 

A full refund will be issued for any program cancelled by the 

Park District. If the class has begun, a pro-rated amount will 

be determined based on the date of refund application for 

injury, moving, schedule changes and satisfaction issues. A 

doctor’s note must accompany the refund request for 

injuries. Requests will be honored until the last class date of 

the session. Certain restrictions apply to camp, pool, skating 

or fitness passes, sports leagues, tickets to entertainment/ 

sports events, birthday parties, ice skating programs, room 

rentals and contracted programs. Refunds for trips and 

contractual programs will only be issued if the spot can 

be filled from the waiting list. Refunds will not be issued 

for classes that participants are unable to attend. Refund 

requests can be made by phone or in person. Fees paid by 

credit cards will be refunded through charge account credits. 

Refund check processing takes 10-15 working days. 

Minimum & Maximum 

All programs have a minimum and maximum registration 

requirement. Please register early. If you do not get into the 

class you have selected, we will put your name on a waiting 

list and let you know if a new class will be created or a spot 

opens up. 

ADA Compliance 

Rolling Meadows Park District complies with the Americans 

with Disabilities Act, legislation which prohibits discrimination 

on the basis of a disability. Under the ADA, the Park District 

makes reasonable accommodations in recreation programs 

to enable participation by an individual with a disability who 

meets essential eligibility requirements for that leisure 

program and facilities. The ADA, which took effect in 1992, 

requires that recreation programs offered by the Park District 

be available in the most integrated setting appropriate for 

each individual.

Board Meeting Information 

As a separate Municipal Governing Agency, the Rolling Meadows Park District’s 

purpose is to provide parks, facilities and recreation programs for the children and 

adults of the community. The Park District’s policies for operation are governed by 

7 elected Commissioners. Board Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each 

month at 7:30pm at Park Central, 3000 Central Road. Copies of the board minutes and

Insurance Disclaimer 

The Rolling Meadows Park District does not carry premises medical 

payments insurance coverage. The Park District is a local public entity 

and is subject to the Illinois Governmental and Governmental 

Employees Tort Immunity Act that provides certain immunities and 

defenses to claims for damages made against local public entities. 

Without these statutory immunities, fees associated with recreational 

activities, programs, properties and/or facilities could well be 

prohibitive. 

Waiver Forms Required 

For insurance purposes, your signature is required on the waiver 

portion of all registrations. Please read the waiver in full before signing. 

Registrations cannot be processed without the waiver portion signed. 

Additional waiver may be required for high risk programs. 

Catalog Information 

This catalog is prepared months in advance of its delivery. Sometimes 

there are errors or program changes by the time the catalog is 

published. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and 

when errors do occur, our staff will advise you of the change as quickly 

as possible. The most current catalog copy, with updates, will always be 

posted on our website, rmparks.org. (bottom left corner). 

Residents & Non-Residents 

The Rolling Meadows Park District is a separate, tax supported agency 

apart from the City of Rolling Meadows. This means that you may have 

a City of Rolling Meadows address but do not pay taxes to the Rolling 

Meadows Park District. Therefore, all participants that are 

non-taxpaying residents of the park district are required to pay an 

additional fee depending on the program. Non-Residents are welcome 

to join any Rolling Meadows Park District program. A quick way to 

determine your park district resident status is to look at your tax bill; 

the park district that you pay taxes to will be listed. 

Community Agreements 

We are fortunate to have intergovernmental agreements with School 

District 15 and 214 and St. Colette for usage of their indoor and outdoor 

spaces. 

Thank You Volunteers! 

We are fortunate to have many volunteers that help at our Senior 

Center and at programs/events throughout the year. A special thanks to 

everyone who vounteers at the park district. 

Reciprocal Agreements 

The Rolling Meadows Park District enjoys a great working relationship 

with many of our surrounding park districts. We encourage our 

residents to take advantage of these different facilities and programs at 

an in-district rate. See page 41 for more information.


Room Rentals 

Want to play basketball with a group of your friends? Need a place to hold a 

meeting, anniversary party, shower or wedding reception? We have a wide 

variety of rooms available for rent. For more details on rentals, see page 39.

Brochure Advertising 

The Rolling Meadows Park District offers area businesses an opportunity to 

place your four-color advertisement on the inside of our seasonal program 

catalogs. The program catalog is delivered to over 8,000 homes, three times per 

year. An additional 2,000 copies of this informational program are placed at our 

facilities providing residents and non-residents with information on programs, 

special events, camps, facilities and parks. This is an excellent opportunity to 

get information about your business into every home in Rolling Meadows. If 

you would like to place an ad, please contact:

Attention Parents/Guardians 

Listed below are several safety guidelines the Park District encourages parents/ 

guardians to follow when dropping their child(ren) off at a Park District program. 

• Please escort children to and from the building, pool, field etc. 

• Please take child directly into class or activity area. 

• Please try to stay with child until the instructor arrives/begins the class. 

• On occasion an instructor may encounter an emergency or an unexpected 

situation which causes them to be late or miss a class. If this occurs, the 

instructor notifies the program supervisor as quickly as possible and the 

supervisor addresses the situation as quickly as possible. 

Sled Hill Information 

The lighted sled hill in North Salk Park will be open provided that there is at least 

3 inches of snow and the wind chill is not colder that -20 degrees. A RED flag will 

indicate that the sled hill is closed. A YELLOW flag will indicate that the sled hill is 

open but unsupervised and caution should be exercised. 

Kimball Hill Pond Information 

With the cold weather coming, we are encouraging parents to talk to their 

children about the dangers of walking on or playing around any frozen bodies of 

water. In particular, please advise them to beware of the pond located in Kimball 

Hill Park. The Rolling Meadows Park District staff will monitor the 

thickness of the ice and a RED flag and RED barrels will be placed at the pond 

when conditions are unsafe. When the thickness is safe for skating the barrels 

will be removed and a YELLOW flag will be raised to indicate that the pond is 

safe for skating. However, caution should always be used when on frozen 

bodies of water. 

Be advised that ice fishing is not permitted at Kimball Hill Pond. 

Weather Cancellations 

School cancellations due to weather do not always affect Park District programs. 

For specific program and event cancellations, visit www.rmparks.org or call the 

facility in which your program takes place. 

For Your Safety 

The entrance/driveway into the Community Center is a “No Cell Phone Zone” 

while operating a motor vehicle. Many young children are dropped off at our 

preschool or use the playground near the entrance.

Important Class Cancellation Information 

Please don’t wait until the last minute to register for a program. At some point 

prior to the first class, we need to decide if the enrollment is sufficient to hold 

the class; typically ONE WEEK prior to the start of the program. Signing up on the 

first day of class might be too late, so don’t hesitate. Avoid the chance of losing 

your favorite class due to low enrollment. You may find some programs/events in 

this catalog that have strict registration deadlines which will be listed separately. 

Register early! 

Have You Moved Or Have Changed Information? 

Please notify the Park District with your change of address, phone number or 

email address. It is important that we have current information. Registration 

forms have a box at the top for you to check if you have any updated info. 

Transportation 

We offer a variety of programs that are not held at a Rolling Meadows Park 

District facility. Under each description in this brochure, it states as to where the 

program/event is held. Transportation for these programs is not provided, 

unless specified. 

Code of Conduct 

All participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times while 

participating, spectating or attending any program or activity sponsored at the 

Rolling Meadows Park District. This includes participation in programs which 

may or may not require an admission fee, spectating at athletic events, concerts 

or attending special events. The following guidelines are designed to provide 

safe and enjoyable activities for all participants. Additional Codes of Conducts 

may apply for particular programs such as day camps, sports programming and 

athletic leagues. 

Participants/Parents shall: 

• Show respect to all participants, officials and program staff and/or 

supervisors. 

• Take direction from program staff and/or supervisors. 

• Refrain from using abusive or foul language. 

• Refrain from causing bodily harm to self, other program 

participants or program staff and/or supervisors. 

• Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies and facilities. 

Recycling 

You may not see recycle containers in our facilities and parks, but 

please know that the waste management service we contract 

separates the recyclable material from the solid waste at their 

state-of-the art facility.

Thor Guard 

Lightning Prediction System 

“A Proactive Solution for Lightning Safety” 

Thor Guard operates 7 days per week, 8am-11pm from April 

thru November. A warning horn will sound a 15 second blast 

when a potentially dangerous weather situation is approaching. 

Clear the field immediately and seek proper shelter. Wait 

for the ALL CLEAR (3 short blasts). If no all clear signal sounds 

after 20 minutes please leave the program. This policy applies 

to all outdoor programming for youth and adults.
