Bicesterr Town Centre Access Improvements
Information onn changes
to road layout
Following approval of the Bicesterr Town Centre Access Improvements
Scheme in September 2012, workk has now commenced on the highway.
The
next stage:
Some of the improvements have already been implemented, such as a right-
come into effect at 6.00am on Sunday 31 March 20133 when thee operation
of
turn
lane and bus lay-bys on Queens Avenue. The next major changes will
town centre roads will change significantly.
The
changes will be:
• Closure
of access to and from North Street and Roman Way at the
Banbury / Buckingham Road roundabout, to create a neww three-arm
roundabout
• Turning
St John’s
Street and North Street from one-way streets to two-
Street and St John’s Streett
• A new roundabout at Manorsfield Road/St John’s Street
way streets
• Replacing traffic signals with a mini-roundaboutt at the junction of Field
• Changes to turning bans from/to Bucknell Road.

Changes to bus routes:
The
North Street bus stop will no longer be used after 30 March
2013.
Please use alternative nearby buss stops:
• Market
Square: All servicess
• Queens Avenue: S5
• Bicester North Station: 8, 18, 22/23, S5, X5
• Brookside School: 25/A, 81/A
• Rowan
Road: 37
Completion:
From April onwards, work will continue on the Banburyy Rd/Buckingham Road
roundabout with the whole scheme due to be completed at the end of May
2013.

BANBURY RD
Bicester Town Centre
New Road Layout

Junction Redesign:
The junction of Field Street with
Banbury and Buckingham Roads
will be simplified to a three-arm
mini roundabout. Roman Way
and North Street will no longer
join the mini roundabout
BUCKINGHAM RD
From Buckingham
Change To Turning Ban:
- The right-turn ban from Bucknell Road
into Field Street will be removed.
- The right-turn from Field Street into
Bucknell Road will be banned.
ROMAN WAY
New Roundabout:
The junction of Queens Avenue
and St. John's Street will no
longer be a signal controlled
junction. It will be converted to
a mini roundabout.
BUCKNELL RD
QUEENS AVE
FIELD ST
Two Way Roads:
North Street and St.
John's Street (both
sides of the
Manorsfield Road
junction) will become
two-way roads.
ST. JOHN'S ST
NORTH ST
Change Of Access:
Access to Roman Way will be
via North Street (which will be
two-way). There will be no
access to the mini roundabout,
except for cyclists.
Removal Of Bus Stop:
The existing bus stop will
no longer be in use after
30 March 2013
Change Of Priority:
The junction of North
Street with St. John's
Street will be a give-way
junction. Sheep Street
and St. John's Street
traffic will have priority.
New Roundabout:
To Oxford & M40
The junction of Manorsfield
Road and St. John's Street will
be converted to a roundabout.
St John's Street will be two-way
on both sides of the junction.
