expect the adoption of a list of amendments
envisaged in the current version
of the Draft Tax Code through amendments
to separate laws in parallel with
the 2008 Budget process.
After Mr. Lapshyn’s remarks the floor
was open to a number of specific
UKRAINIAN HOSPITALITY
The September 2007 issue takes
a close look at the situation at
Ukraine’s hospitality industry. In the
Focus section we present an analysis
of strengths and weaknesses,
challenges and opportunities faced
by the operators in the sector. Foreign
experts state that Ukraine’s
hotel market is complicated, especially
as it is still in its early stages
of formation, with all the challenges
this brings. However, in the last few
years some international chains
have shown increasing interest in
Ukraine, and some have even set up
shop in the country, especially after
the Ukrainian authorities put European
integration at the top of their
agenda. In the past three years, the
authorities have started paying attention
to reviving Ukraine’s tourism
industry and have made developing
the hospitality sector one of
the country’s priorities.
The Government Policy section
has exclusive interviews with Anatoliy
Pakhlya, the Head of the State
Tourism and Resort Area Service under
Ukraine’s Culture and Tourism
Ministry, who unveils the government’s
vision for the development
of tourism and the hotel business in
Ukraine, and with Yuriy Halushka,
the Head of the Department overseeing
the organization and coordination
of administrative bodies
for tourism, hotels and resorts at the
main utility directorate of Kyiv City
State Administration, who describes
www.chamber.ua
how Kyiv is preparing to host the European
football championship finals
in 2012.
In our Comment section, Stephen
Ansell, General Manager of Hyatt
Regency Kyiv – Saint Sophia, speaks
about successful experience of opening
a five-star hotel in Ukraine, while
Conrad Meier, General Manager of
simplicity and using to the best advantage
the wholesome produce
that comes in such abundance from
its fertile soil. And there is nothing
humble varenyki whose secretes are
uncovered in the Made in Ukraine
section.
The next guest of Commerce’s Persona
