The Standard Measurement Book should be numbered <strong>in</strong> an alphabeticalseries so that they may be readily dist<strong>in</strong>guished from those assigned to ord<strong>in</strong>aryMeasurement Book.2. The Standard Measurement Book of build<strong>in</strong>gs are ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> order tofacilitate the preparation of estimate for periodical repairs and prepar<strong>in</strong>g bills for suchrepairs done by contract or departmentally.3. When a payment is based on Standard Measurement Book reference to whichshould be recorded <strong>in</strong> the Measurement Book where payment is made, the Gazettedofficer or subord<strong>in</strong>ate prepar<strong>in</strong>g the bill for payment should certify that the whole ofthe real works (or works s<strong>in</strong>ce previous runn<strong>in</strong>g bill, as the case may be) as perstandard the real measurements has been done and that has not previously been billedfor <strong>in</strong> any shape.4. The Standard Measurement Books should be considered as very importantaccounts records and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed very carefully and accurately as they may have to beproduced as evidence <strong>in</strong> court of law.5. The entries of measurements (and abstract thereof) <strong>in</strong> the StandardMeasurements Book should be recorded legibly <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>k and certified as correct by aresponsible officer.6. The Divisional Officer should certify once a year that all the StandardMeasurement Books of the division have been <strong>in</strong>spected by him and that entriesthere<strong>in</strong> have not been tampered with and that all corrections due to additions andalterations <strong>in</strong> the build<strong>in</strong>g have been made <strong>in</strong> the books and the latter are reliable andupto date.7. All the measurements should be recorded neatly and directly <strong>in</strong> StandardMeasurement Book at site of work. The record<strong>in</strong>g of measurement elsewhere andcopy<strong>in</strong>g them <strong>in</strong> Standard Measurement Book is forbidden. The person record<strong>in</strong>g themeasurement will also record a dated certificate "Measured by me" and sign his fullname. Measurements should be recorded by Executive Eng<strong>in</strong>eer/Assistant ExecutiveEng<strong>in</strong>eer/Assistant Eng<strong>in</strong>eer/or by an executive subord<strong>in</strong>ate which should be checkedcent per cent by Assistant Eng<strong>in</strong>eer and 10% by the Divisional Officer.


8. Each set of measurements should commence with entries stat<strong>in</strong>g :(a) Full name of build<strong>in</strong>g as given <strong>in</strong> the build<strong>in</strong>g register;(b) Situation of build<strong>in</strong>g; and(c) Date of measurement.9. On transfer, an officer or a subord<strong>in</strong>ate should make over StandardMeasurement Book issued to his successor and necessary movement should be shown<strong>in</strong> the movement register (i.e) the S.M.Bs. should be shown as received from therelieved officer and issued to the reliev<strong>in</strong>g officer. The transfer should also berecorded after the last entry <strong>in</strong> each book and signed and dated by the relieved andreliev<strong>in</strong>g officer or subord<strong>in</strong>ate.ParticularsDetailsNo. Length Breadth DepthContents orArea
